American Legion Post 157 Passes Resolution

Penn State Master Gardener Hosting Basic Training Class

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County will be hosting a Basic Training Class beginning Fall 2020. There will be an Informational Meeting to discuss the Training Class along with addressing any questions candidates may have. #6 Winner of The Beautification Award

Mayor Anthony J. Court announced the final winner for the 2020 Beautification Awards. Winner #6 is Sam Barry of Madison Avenue. Congratulations, Sam, on a job well done. Sam was presented with a yard sign and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Perry Township Announces Annual Clean-Up Day

The Perry Township Annual Clean-up Day will be held on August 1, 2020 There will be a $10.00 fee for each load: Pick-Up or Automobile. For any load larger than a pick-up or automobile, a fee of $50.00 per load will be charged. No extra large trucks or tractor trailers will be received. There will be two collection sites: the parking lots of the Perry Township Municipal Building and the Wurtemburg Perry Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. Ellwood City Borough Announces Update Of CodeRED Notification System

The Borough of Ellwood City has recently updated its account with OnSolve, providers of the CodeRED high-speed notification solution and the CodeRED Weather Warning service. This no-charge update will allow message recipients to easily identify calls coming through the systems. Message recipient’s Caller ID will read OnSolve or 866-419-5000 for CodeRED calls. And for CodeRED Weather Warning calls, either OnSolve or the number 800-566-9780 will appear on Caller ID displays. US Dept of Agriculture To Distribute Rabies Vaccinations By Helicopter In Beaver County

The United States Department of Agriculture will begin distribution of rabies vaccinations by helicopter in Beaver County on August 10, and continue thru August 17, as part of their National Rabies Management Program. Baits containing the rabies vaccination will be dispersed by helicopter in order to reach desired locations that would otherwise be difficult to access. During this time period, area residents may see helicopters moving within the same area multiple times in a slow manner. Local Given Proclamation For Heroic Actions

On Monday, July 20, 2020, Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a  proclamation to Evan Barton. Last week Barton performed a heroic deed,  by rescuing a women from a burning vehicle. Evan Barton was traveling  into Ellwood City on Woodside Avenue when he observed a vehicle in front  of his vehicle. The vehicle was smoking and appeared to be on fire. I spent the last 12 years on the Ellwood City School Board before stepping down in December at the end of my third term. Through that experience, I have first-hand knowledge of how this Board operates. The way this Board has treated Superintendent Joe Mancini is a disgrace. Borough Now Offering Free 2 Hour Parking Until August

The Borough of Ellwood City has generously announced 2-hour free parking on downtown meters through end of August. This comes after some have voiced concern over the ticketing as an obstacle for those still looking to support small business and restaurants in downtown Ellwood City during the ongoing pandemic.
