Bernstine to Host ‘Supporting Our Seniors’ February 10th

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) is inviting senior citizens, their families and caregivers to a “Supporting Our Seniors” event on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 10-11:30 a.m., at the Unionville Volunteer Fire Company. The event is a one-stop shop to learn more about programs and help available for senior citizens in the 8th Legislative District. “Older adults are the fastest-growing market in the nation, and they deserve our total support,” said Bernstine. “Showing support for our senior citizens is essential. PHOTOS: PA Turnpike Continues Progress Thru Stage 3 Of Beaver River Bridge Replacement Project

Those who drive near the Beaver River Bridge Replacement Project are beginning to notice that construction of the new bridge over the Beaver River is now underway. The contractor is currently constructing new abutment footings and drilled shafts, pier footings and columns. Additionally, earthwork and drainage work continues to allow for the wider road and the new interchange ramps being constructed. Accordingly, Turnpike travel lanes have been shifted southward to accommodate the new bridge and roadway construction. According to a press release made available by the Borough of Ellwood City, the borough is advertising for the vacancy on the Civil Service Commission.  The notice reads as follows: BOARD VACANCY: Ellwood City Borough Council is advertising the vacancy on the Civil Service Commission. First Annual Shoaf’s Spaghetti Supper To Be Held

The first annual Shoaf’s Spaghetti Supper will be held on February 24, 2024 at Wurtemburg Presbyterian Church (291 Wurtemburg Road, Ellwood City PA 16117) from 5:00pm to 7:30pm in memory of our dear friend, Marc Shoaf. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children under 10 years old, and free for children under 2 years. Ellwood City Historical Society To Award Four Scholarships

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award four (4) fifteen hundred dollar ($1,500.00) scholarships this year. All graduating seniors living in the Ellwood City Area School District or the Riverside School District are eligible. Applications and requirements may be obtained from either high school Guidance Counselor, or from the Ellwood City Area Historical Society. The History Center at 310 5th Street is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am until 2 pm. EC Wolves Club Den Provides Donations

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday January 10, 2024 at the Connequenessing Country Club. At the meeting they presented a donation of $500 to the Ellwood City Meals on Wheels Program. Director Terry Crespo thanked the Wolves Club for their continued support of the important community program where thirty citizens receive meals Monday through Friday. Due to donations like theirs the program has not had to raise the costs to the participants. Wolves Club members serve as drivers and meal preparers. There is a need for drivers to deliver the meals.
