Gibbons Hosts Agriculture Secretary and Farmers at Local Event

BEAVER COUNTY, Oct. 13 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, welcomed Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and 30 local farmers at a local restaurant to talk about agriculture education, food trade and the future of state farmers. Gibbons said Redding addressed the audience and took questions relating to the agriculture workforce. Senator Vogel Urges Residents to Take Part in Oct. 17 Tele-Town Hall on PA Heroin/Opioid Crisis

Pennsylvania’s heroin and opioid epidemic will be the focus of a special Telephone Town Hall meeting, to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 17th, according to Senator Elder Vogel. Senator Elder Vogel is urging area residents to participate in the event, which is part of a statewide effort to gather information on how the growing epidemic is affecting Pennsylvania and what can be done to save lives and battle addiction. Monaca, PA – Community College of Beaver County is proud to announce the appointment of Mark Peterson and Daniel Zeljak to the CCBC Foundation Board of Directors. The expansion of the Board allows the CCBC Foundation to increase outreach efforts and grow resources for assisting the College, CCBC students, and the community we serve. A resident of Daugherty Township, Mark Peterson is the current president of Sound Ideas Media, LLC, and the owner of WBVP-WMBA Radio in Beaver Falls. Local Church Holds Live Auction and Pasta Dinner to Raise Scholarship Funds

ELLWOOD CITY, PA (Oct. 11, 2016) — North Sewickley Presbyterian Church, located at 106 Chapel Drive in North Sewickley Township, will host a pasta dinner and live auction fundraiser on Saturday, October 22, at 6 p.m., in their downstairs fellowship hall. The church is located across from Old Stonewall Golf Course and Shakespeare’s Restaurant. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund for the church’s annual family retreat. The Ellwood City United Fund is announcing that it’s annual Fund Campaign will start on October 1, 2016 and end December 31, 2016. The United Fund has set a goal of $50,000.00 for the coming year of 2017. “Open Street” Event

Ellwood City’s Kitchen Cabinet is hosting an “Open Street” event ahead of the annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 29 from 1p-3p (Parade begins 3:30). For those of you not familiar with an Open Street, designated streets are closed for a period of time so that people can experience the business district from a different perspective – on their bikes, with baby strollers, wagons, skates, skateboards any mode of wheels not fuel or electric powered.
