Fall Sports Physicals at Lincoln High

Ellwood City School District will be offering physicals for athletes participating in fall sports on June 8 and 22. Physicals are by appointment wit Dr. Lawrence Rahall in the Lincoln High School health office. Required forms are at the athletic director’s office or health office. Completed forms and payment of $10 should be brought to the health office before an appointment can be made. Information: 724-752-1591 Ext. 3035.


Franklin Township to Discontinue White Waste Management Bags

Effective May 31 white waste management bags will be discontinued for Franklin Township. Residents may use the remaining bags that they have purchased. Going forward Waste Management will now offer a sticker service. The stickers are $3 apiece. Each bag placed on the curb for pickup or placed in the dumpsters at the township building will need to have a sticker attached. The stickers can be purchased by either calling 1-800-866-4460 or by mailing a check to : Waste Management Attn: Sticker Service, 625 Cherrington Parkway, Moon Township, PA  15108.

Gibbons Introduces Budget Continuation Bill to Keep Funding Schools and Social Service Agencies if Impasse Occurs

HARRISBURG, May 17 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, has introduced a bill (H.B. 2077) that would fund schools and human service agencies if a budget is not enacted by the July 1 deadline to start the new fiscal year. Under Gibbons’ bill, if a budget is not successfully enacted by July 1, all line items from the previous year’s budget will continue to receive funding equal to that of the previously enacted budget, with the exception of the Governor’s Office, the Lieutenant Governor’s Office, the Senate and the House of Representatives. Kaufman House Renovation Project Receives $500,000 State Grant

Zelienople, Pa.- Efforts to restore the historic Kaufman House in Zelienople received a significant boost in the form of a $500,000 state grant, according to Senator Elder Vogel. Mayor Court Thanks Lawrence County Commissioners

On Thursday, Mayor Anthony J. Court was treated to a tour of the new Emergency Operation Center by Director Brian Melcer and Deputy Director Jeff Parish. Mayor Court wanted to extend his appreciation to the County Commissioners Dan Vogler, Robert Del Signore Jr. and Steve Craig for their help in obtaining radios for the Ellwood City Police Department without cost to the Borough, savings of about $35,000.
