Lincoln Class of 1954 July Meeting

Pudue La Cava hosted the final planning session of the Lincoln High Class of 1954 “Life is a Beach” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home on Thursday, July 7 at 4 p.m. Co-chairman Paul Abraham presided with the full committee in attendance. The session began with a luncheon provided by LaCava, Ilene Gardner, Ann Amadio, Patty Tino, Arlene “Pinky” Maielli, and Clemmy Sirimarco and was served by LaCava and Gardner. Veterans’ Specialists to Visit Gibbons’ Office Next Week

ELLWOOD CITY, July 7 – To assist veterans and their families, state Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, today announced he will host state Department of Labor and Industry veterans’ specialists in his Ellwood City office. Gibbons said Stephanie Bingo and Ryan Paglia will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 at his Ellwood City office, located at 438 Line Ave., to lend help to veterans and their families. Ellwood Commends Softball Team

On Saturday during the festival, Ellwood City recognized the achievements of the Lincoln High School Varsity Softball team. Mayor Anthony J. Court presented the team and head coach Gary Rozanski with a commendation. The girls team claimed the section and WPIAL titles, advanced to the second round of playoffs, and remained undefeated until their last game. “The performance and accomplishment from the entire team and coaching staff have been superlative and are to be commended,” Court said. Borough Extends Request for Electric Power Consumption Reduction

As temperatures are expected to reach well into the upper 80s in the next few days, Ellwood City Borough electric customers are being asked to conserve power. Borough Officials said nothing is wrong with the electric grid; they’re just trying to take every avenue to reduce costs for customers. Senator Vogel announced today that he will host a veterans’ specialist in both his Rochester and New Castle District Offices to assist constituents with various issues related to their military service. The 80th Reino Family Reunion the Granddady of them All

On July 2-4, 200 descendants of Guiseppe and Archangela Torre Reina, to the fifth generation, celebrated the 80th Reino Family Reunion at the Emily Cortez Shelter on Bridge Street. Established in 1936, the Reino Family Reunion has continued non-stop through war, sickness and death of family members. The descendants recognized four family members from the 1936 first reunion, Mary Louise Valvano Tomeo, Lewis “Wally” Valvano, Louis “Butch” Sudano and Rosanna Sudano Sciote. Gibbons Announces $296,188 in Grants for 10th Legislative District Improvements

HARRISBURG, July 1 – State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, D-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence, said the Commonwealth Financing Authority today approved $296,188 in grants to improve local parks and trails.
