Mayor Advisory Meeting

Mayor Court met with his Advisory Committee on October 27, 2016 in council Chambers. Discussion revolved around illegal drug and narcotics in the area, including overdoes that are taking place in local communities throughout Pennsylvania.  Mayor Court advised that the recent Drug Take-Back Program held in October was very successful in our community.  Parking and Trick-or-Treat night in our area were also topics of discussion. The next Mayors Advisory meeting will be on Thursday, December 1, 2016 @ 3pm.


Italian Heritage Website Created By Local Residents

Gene Morabito remembers his father as a man who immersed himself in the Ellwood City community.  As a prominent local contractor, Cosmo Morabito played an active role in building Ellwood City both literally and figuratively.  Cosmo passed away in 1946 when Gene was 11.  Sadly, in the 70 years since his passing, Cosmo’s contributions to the Ellwood community are largely forgotten, even by his own grandchildren.  Many of the buildings he constructed still stand, the Catholic Center, the old Ellport school among them, but few people are left who remember the builder or the local club that Cosmo started in…

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Because it is Election Day, there will be no Family Laptime programs on Tuesday, November 8.  Normal Laptime activities will resume on Tuesday, November 15. False Claims Lead Newspaper to Drop Gibbons Endorsement Paper says Gibbons Manufactured Details

In a rarely seen action, The Beaver County Times today rescinded its endorsement of State Rep. Jaret Gibbons, saying he manufactured details about his opponent that he then attributed to their reporting. “We cannot support a candidate who attributes information to us that we did not write,” said Times Executive Editor Lisa Micco. The newspaper said it had planned to publish its endorsement this week, but pulled the endorsement and will now endorse challenger Aaron Bernstine. Ellwood City Christmas Parade

The annual Ellwood City Christmas Parade will march down Lawrence Avenue Saturday, December 3 at 3:30. The parade will start at the intersection of 4th Street and Lawrence Avenue and end at the intersection of 8th Street and Lawrence Avenue. Staging will take place in the Holy Redeemer School parking lot. Participants are encouraged to arrive before 2:45 and enter the lot at Crescent Avenue and 3rd Street.  Parents may drop off their children on Crescent Avenue between 3rd Street and 4th Street. Relay For Life Event Leadership Meeting Wednesday, November 9, 2016 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. “Toys for Tots” Collection Spot at Senator Vogel’s Office

State Senator Elder Vogel, Jr.’s office will be collecting toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” program through December 9th. If you would like to participate, please drop off any new, unwrapped toys at the Senator’s office at 488 Adams Street in Rochester. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. State House candidate Aaron Bernstine has won the endorsement of the Pennsylvania chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s leading advocate for small businesses. “This vote of confidence from the leading advocate for small business is both an honor and a signal that my message about growing jobs and building the economy of our region is reaching people,” Bernstine said. Sign up for Wampum Christmas Parade Treat Bags

Sign-up for ‘Treat Bags from Santa’ begins Friday Nov 4th at the Wampum Boro Bldg.  As in past years, the Wampum Christmas Parade begins at 1 PM on the first Saturday in December.  Immediately following the Parade, children who are registered go to the Wampum Gymnasium to visit Santa and Mrs. Clause and receive a treat bag.   Treats are free for Wampum area residents and cost $7 per bag for those outside the area.  Treats must be ordered and paid for ahead of time.
