Corona D’Italia June Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on June 14 at 5p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with a pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimaraco an served by officers Lois DiFrichia, Mary Jane Folino and Esther Santilo. Trustee Patty Regna voice a commemorative invocation in observance of Flag Day. The business session followed with financial reports presented by Treasurer Louise Vitullo. Senator Vogel Continues Push for Telemedicine Initiatives in Pennsylvania

Technology can help overcome the barriers to quality patient care created by distance and reduce the costs of those services, according to Senator Elder Vogel (R-Beaver), the author of legislation aimed at promoting telemedicine in Pennsylvania. Senate Bill 780 specifically defines telemedicine as “the delivery of health care services provided through telecommunications technology to a patient by a healthcare practitioner who is at a different location.” It also establishes guidelines regarding who can provide telemedicine services, and provides clarity regarding insurance company reimbursement for those services. “Telemedicine is transforming healthcare and it is something our state should embrace and encourage,” Senator…


BC3’s 2017 Regfest: Free Sunglasses for Bright Futures

Two-day July event offers prizes, beachy atmosphere to prep for enrollment. On Tuesday, Mayor Court presented the 3rd 2017 Beautification Award and Gift Certificate to Ellwood City resident Marsha Fusetti of Johnston Drive.  The Mayor congratulated Marsha for her beautiful and well maintained gardens around her home. Lincoln Class of 1954 “Nite at the Movies”

Pudue LaCava hosted the Lincoln Class of 1954, “Nite at the Movies” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home at 1p.m. on Wednesday, June 7. The session began with lunch provided by committee members and served by Ilene Gardner and LaCava. Dessert featured Gardner’s homemade apple pie in recognition of the upcoming Flag Day observance. Co-Chairmen, Paul Abraham and James Spielvogel conducted the business session that followed. Ellwood City’s 5th Summer Concert Series in the Community Plaza will begin tomorrow, June 17th, with the Harmony-Zelienople Community Band kicking off the series. Senator Vogel to Host Veterans’ Specialist at New Castle District Office

Senator Vogel announced today that he will host a veterans’ specialist in his New Castle District Office to assist constituents with various issues related to their military service. Retired Ellwood City Police Canine Passes Away

Lt. David Kingston-Operations Officer released the following statement: It is with great sadness ECPD reports the passing of Ellwood City Police Canine and McBride family pet “Jozek.” Jozek, a Czech born German Shepard, came to ECPD in March of 2007 and worked as part of the canine team. JOZEK was born in the Czech Republic June 9, 2005 and was purchased by ECPD on March 9, 2007 from Shallow Creek Kennels in Sharpsville, PA. Bernstine, Solomon Bill Would Prepare PA Students to Enter Workforce

HARRISBURG – In a bipartisan effort to prepare Pennsylvania’s youth for the 21st century workforce, state Reps. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) and Jared Solomon (D-Philadelphia) introduced legislation which would allow high school students to obtain real-world work experience while still in school.
