Bernstine Announces Safe Schools Grants for Laurel School District, Lawrence County Vo-Tech

Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced nearly $150,000 in Safe Schools Grants have been awarded to Laurel School District and Lawrence County Career and Technical Center. “Our students deserve to learn in an environment free from violence and crime,” Bernstine said. “The investments we make in academic programs mean nothing if our kids and teachers aren’t safe. These grants will help protect students and ensure taxpayer dollars used to support our schools can be prioritized in the classroom.” Laurel School District received a $20,000 Safe Schools Equipment Grant and a $57,390 School Police/Resource Officer Grant. Ellwood City Area Historical Society: Foundries of Freedom

This is the third of four releases presented by the Ellwood City Historical Society concerning the “We Can Do It!”, exhibit to be held at the History Center, 310 Fifth Street, Ellwood City. FOUNDRIES OF FREEDOM “Soldiers of production” accurately describes the nearly 7,000 men and women who worked in the mills of Ellwood City during World War II.  Though not called to serve in the military, they were one of the most important cogs in the United States war machine.  It’s no exaggeration to claim that they were a major reason for the Allied victory in the War. Tipsy Turkey Trail Event

Gobble til’ you wobble! The Tipsy Turkey Trail is back Saturday, November, 18th from 12-10PM. This is a one-day, scavenger hunt based trail that will start at Knockin’ Noggin and finish at Nova Cellars. Find all 16 turkeys hidden throughout the trail, and win a prize! Carnegie Free Library of Beaver Falls: “A Novel Event”

Saturday Nov 18th 11a.m. to 4p.m.  25 Authors will be on hand to meet greet and sale their books.  Panel discussions will be happening throughout the day.   Learn more about writing in various genres, mindful writing and even writing about nonfiction. Bernstine to Host Agriculture Summit and Breakfast

Ellwood City Christmas Parade Details Announced

The annual Ellwood City Christmas Parade will march down Lawrence Avenue Saturday, December 2 at 3:30. The parade will start at the intersection of 4th Street and Lawrence Avenue and end at the intersection of 8th Street and Lawrence Avenue. Everyone is invited to participate in the parade. Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 Monthly Meeting

Corona D’Italia Lodge #807held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, November 8 at 5p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. President Clemmy Sirimarco, hosted the pizza luncheon served by Guard Lois DiFrishia, Secretary Jackie Perno and Historian Mary Jane Folino. Trustee Patty Regna voiced a commemorative prayer for all living and deceased sister lodge members and all of our military personnel. The business session followed with financial reports by Treasurer Louise Vitullo. She reminded that all dues for the 2017 year must be paid by December 31.
