Donations Sought for Ellwood City Football Team

Lincoln High School’s football team is seeking donations of some items to help the department. Nick Hand, head football coach, said the following items are needed for the field house at Helling Stadium — a washer and dryer, shower size towels, hand soap and shampoo. Anyone willing to help can contact Mr. Hand at 724-674-1181 or bring items to the high school office or field house.

The Moose at 1400 Factory Avenue is hosting an evening of fun, facts and trivia to bring awareness to the public about Relay For Life right in Ellwood City. 350 May Toast the Town at 2nd Winter Wine and Brew Fest

A crowd of up to 350 is expected at the second Winter Wine and Brew Fest, which will feature the selections of nearly 18 vendors, a table-visiting magician, tantalizing finger foods and socializing to the backdrop of constant music, said Brad Ovial, president of Ellwood City Revitalization. “All for $20,” he said of advance ticket sales. Ellwood City Wolverines Defeat Rochester

Ellwood City defeated Rochester 64-62 on Wednesday after an evenly matched game that saw neither team lead by more than six points. After the game worked its way to another tie late in the fourth quarter, Ellwood City used back to back three-pointers from Anthony Roth and Broc Boariu to stretch out to their biggest lead in the contest at 56-50. Bernstine Bill Would Stop Life Insurance Payouts to Terrorists

HARRISBURG – A recent terror attack on police at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex prompted state Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today to unveil new legislation, which would limit life insurance payouts of individuals who die committing acts of terrorism. The proposal also calls for a portion of the terrorist’s life insurance benefits to be redirected to victims. “I don’t believe you deserve to keep your life insurance benefits if you intentionally steal the lives of innocent Americans,” Bernstine said. “We shouldn’t allow terrorism to be rewarded.” House Bill 1996 would allow insurance companies to limit payouts to beneficiaries named on…


Portersville Christian School Information Night/Open House

Portersville Christian School will hold an Information Night/Open House at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9, for families interested in enrolling students for the 2018-2019 school year. The school is accepting student applications and registrations prior to the release of next year’s tuition schedule at the end of March.  In addition to kindergarten, there are openings in most grade levels for fall of 2018.  Interested families who have students entering kindergarten and grades 7 and 9 are encouraged to apply early, since these grades tend to fill up fast. Ellwood City Wolverines Fall Short Against New Brighton

Ellwood City’s pre-Christmas game against New Brighton, 12/22/2017 Despite Anthony Roth putting 26 points on the board, Lincoln lost to New Brighton 52-50. New Brighton (PA) locked in the win in the fourth quarter on a three pointer from Thomas Kirby. Despite a strong finish, with 16 points in the final quarter, Ellwood City Wolverines failed to secure the win. Corona D’italia Lodge #807 100th Anniversary Recap

Corona D’italia Lodge #807 celebrated the 100th anniversary of the organization of one of the first Italian Societies for women. Guided by the late John Statti, whose wife, Mary, was a polio victim, urging the women to form a social network. The Lodge began with 77 Charter members on December 31, 1917. The Charter organizers were Sylvia Bellora, who served as the first Venerable{President) Rola Pesce and Luigia Rubino. Recognized as the Founders are, Bellora, Angelina Fraschetti, Vittoria Port, Frances DeMartini, Mary DiThomas, Ida Colavincenzo, Lulu Bevivino and Dena Parascenzo.
