Five BC3 Students, Including Lincoln High School Grad, To Lobby For Increased Community College Funding

(Butler, PA) Five Butler County Community College students, including a 2017 Lincoln High School student, will advocate for increased community college funding Tuesday in the state Capitol Rotunda in response to a 2018-19 budget proposal from Gov. Tom Wolf that freezes operational disbursements at 2017-18 levels. While Wolf’s $32.9 billion fiscal plan includes an additional $1.8 million in reimbursements for approved capital projects, it holds the line on operational spending for Pennsylvania’s 14 community colleges at the current $232.1 million level. Historical Society Welcomes Guest Speaker On April 9

Louise Carroll will be the guest speaker at the April 9th membership meeting of the Ellwood City Area Historical Society. She will portray Martha Greene, wife of Merritt Green, who came here in 1889, to help establish Ellwood, as a future resort town. Mrs. Greene was well impressed with the fledgling town of Ellwood and expressed her thoughts in her own writings. UPDATED: Portersville Road Bridge CLOSED April 9 through July 31, Detours Posted

[UPDATE 4/3/18] PennDOT has announced that a Route 488 detour in Wayne and Perry townships has been pushed back a week due to weather concerns. The Portersville Road Bridge on Route 488 in Wayne and Perry townships will be closed to traffic through July 31. Bridge replacement work will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 9 on Route 488 over Slippery Rock Creek between Hickernell Road and Wurtemburg Road (Route 2003).  The bridge will close to traffic continuously through Tuesday, July 31. Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 Monthly Meeting Recap

Corona D’Italia Lodge #801 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 14, at 5:00pm at Pizza Joe’s. Honoring St. Patrick’s Day, the session began with an Irish Stew dinner prepared by the staff and served by lodge officers, Purdue LaCava, Mary Jane Folino, Patty Regna and members, Margaret Cancelli, and Anita Chaffin.
