Riverside Lions Club Provides Community Support Updates

The Riverside Lions Club continues its community support through various programs and donations. The club offers a series of updates below spotlighting their recent efforts: The club started off the new segment by participating in a District Soup Assembly. Under the supervision of PDG’s Jeff and Maria Laudermilk (Riverside/Hopewell Lions) members from different clubs in the District met at the Butler Blind Association to assemble the equivalent of 9000 dry soup meals. Ellwood City Softball/Tennis Sweeps Beaver Falls; Baseball Beats QV

In a clean sweep on Monday, the Ellwood City softball and tennis teams each collected victories over the Beaver Falls Tigers while the Wolverines baseball squad knocked off Quaker Valley. The Lady Wolverines softball team easily dispatched the visiting Tigers 12-1 at Stiefel Park in five innings. Amber McQuistion struck out 10 Tigers and did not allow an earned run across five innings for her victory. The starter allowed only four hits and one walk. Several Area Police Departments Participating In National Drug Take Back Day

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 10am-2pm (local time) at locations nationwide. This event, which happens twice a year, is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs at locations in communities throughout the country. The Ellwood City, Franklin Township, and North Sewickley Township are among those area police departments participating in the drug take back program on Saturday, April 26 that is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m locally. Hare Strikes Out 14, Panthers Shut Out Warriors; Wolverines Sweep Sto-Rox

Zach Hare struck out 14 batters Friday afternoon over six shut out innings as Riverside defeated Mohawk 8-0 at Jack Critchfield Park at Slippery Rock University. Hare limited the Warriors to only two hits and two walks in his stellar pitching performance. Hare also posted two RBIs offensively to lead the Panthers attack. Ten Wolverines Collect Hits, Ellwood City Routs Sto-Rox

Ten Ellwood City Wolverines collected hits Monday afternoon, and 14 different players reached based as Ellwood City routed visiting Sto-Rox 23-1 at Sanders Field in Ewing Park. Jordan Keller smashed two homeruns, both in an 11-run Ellwood City fourth inning that induced the mercy rule. Ellwood City scored three runs in the first inning, four in the second inning and five in the third before erupting in the fourth inning. Covert, BC3 Men’s Golf Eye Regional Title, Chance To Battle For National Crown

No athletics program at Butler County Community College has earned more automatic berths to a national championship tournament than men’s golf, whose teams have advanced to the spring-season pinnacle six times and as recently as 2023. Officer Involved Shooting in North Sewickley Township

A man was shot and killed by Pennsylvania state police in North Sewickley Township after assaulting and stealing the cruiser of an Ohio state police officer Friday, April 4. According to a state police press release, and at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Pennsylvania State Police were notified that an Ohio State Trooper had been assaulted and that the suspect had subsequently stolen the marked police vehicle. Hare, Panthers Defeat Wolverines at SRU To Even Season Series

After a series of weather induced rescheduled affairs, the Riverside Panthers and Ellwood City Wolverines found themselves at Jack Critchfield Park on the grounds of Slippery Rock University Friday evening for a WPIAL section tilt. The Panthers came away with a 9-5 victory behind Zach Hare to even the season series with the Wolverines. Ellwood City shutout Riverside earlier in the week.
