Beaver County Solar Farm In North Sewickley Township Denied Zoning Application

A proposed Beaver County solar farm in North Sewickley Township was denied a zoning application last Thursday. The proposed farm would be built on roughly eighty acres of wooded area. The company leasing the land, Penn Renewables, made its case in front of the zoning board and members of the public at the townships monthly. Penn Renewables partners with landowners and local communities to develop renewable energy projects that are environmentally friendly and safe. Wolverines Rout Sto-Rox, Jones Hits 1,000 Career Points

Kayla Jones poured in 15 first half points to lead Ellwood City to a comfortable 74-39 victory over Sto-Rox Thursday night at Lincoln High School. The scoring performance helped Jones top 1,000 career points. The senior guard finished 5-10 shooting with one 3-pointer, two rebounds, and three assists Thursday in the non-section contest. The Wolverines pounced early, scoring 30 first quarter points with Jones accounting for eight points and Delaney Sturgeon adding 12 points. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

HARASS PHYSICAL CONTACT: Brandon Falen, 50, of Ellwood City, is charged with physical harassment after an incident occurring on January 20th at a residence on Laurel Avenue in Wayne Township. According to a police report, and at approximately 7:34 p.m., police were dispatched to an active domestic involving Falen and his 24-year-old daughter and 22-year-old son. According to the report, Falen had struck his daughter and son with a broom and a hammer which caused minor injuries. Koppel Borough To Receive $75,000 For Community Park Project

Koppel Borough will receive $75,000 for its community park project. The funding is part of state funding for six community parks and open space projects in Beaver County. “I’m very pleased to announce state funding to help local communities pay for these worthy projects,” Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) said. “Creating useful open space and upgrading playgrounds for children expands opportunities for fun, exercise and outdoor recreation.” The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. Ellwood City Wolves Club Den Monthly Meeting Update

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II met on Wednesday January 22, 2025 at the Connoquenessing Country Club. The Club provided $500 donations to the Divine Grace Ministerium Social Services, Ellwood City Meals on Wheels and $250 to the Lilyville Church of God Food Pantry. The club also welcomed four new members to their public service organization. The club will participate in the annual Ellwood City Arts & Crafts Festival scheduled to be held July 4-6th in Ewing Park. Wolverines Knock Off New Brighton 74-66

Kaleb Servick erupted for 17 second half points and Maykel Cuevas and Chris Smiley each knocked home three 3-pointers to lead Ellwood City to a 74-66 victory over New Brighton Friday night.
