Real Estate Transfers For March 2025

Ready to hop into spring? What better way than starting the spring season off than in your new home! For those in the area, the month of March meant buying and selling real estate. According to Rocket Homes, homes in Lawrence County sold in March 2025 for 7.2% more than they did a year ago with a median sale price of $154,888.00. Lake, Wolverines Shutout Panthers

Aaron Lake struck out 10 batters in a complete game gem to lead the Ellwood City Wolverines past Riverside 4-0 on Tuesday at Beaver Falls High School. Lake surrendered just three hits and three walks in his performance that handed the Panthers their first loss of the season. Ellwood City was the first to get on the board in the top of first inning when Will Nardone singled, scoring one run. Apply Free At BC3 Lawrence Crossing This Spring

Prospective students next week can apply free for admission to Butler County Community College, discover how to minimize or avoid higher education debt and prepare to christen the college’s new facility in Lawrence County. The college will waive its $25 application fee at its final open house at BC3 @ Lawrence Crossing, 2849 W. State St., Union Township. The open house is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 2. SPORTS ROUND-UP: Zach Hare Leads RHS Baseball, Tennis Defeats LHS

Zack Hare was dominant on the bump Thursday afternoon and at the plate Thursday in Riverside’s 4-1 victory over West Allegheny running the Panthers early season unbeaten record to 4-0. Hare rang up 11 strikeouts and surrendered only three hits, one walk, and one run over six and two-thirds innings. The righty also went 4-4 at the plate with an RBI. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

ENDANGERMENT OF A CHILD: Katie Defonde, 39, of Ellwood City, is charged with endangerment of a child after an incident on March 14th. According to a criminal complaint and at approximately 4:22p.m. police were dispatched to Orchard Avenue due to a report of a child found unattended in the street. When police made contact with the caller, he stated that he and his wife had found the approximately one-year-old alone and unsupervised in the street. McDonald’s Honors Local Legend With College Scholarship Program

Seniors graduating from Ellwood City High School and Riverside High School are eligible to apply for the Dom Viccari-McDonald’s of Ellwood City Scholarship. The annual scholarship is named to honor the man who worked tirelessly to improve Ellwood City for all residents, first as a five-term council member and three-term council president, and later as borough manager for more than seven years until his retirement in 2013. Ellwood City Improves To 3-0 With Victory Over West Allegheny

The Ellwood City Wolverines baseball team was victorious against West Allegheny 8-3 on Friday at Sanders Field to extend their early season unbeaten mark to 3-0. The Wolverines opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with three runs thanks in part to two doubles, including a two-run double by Will Nardone. Wolverines Use 6th Inning Surge To Oust Rival Riverside

The Ellwood City Wolverines softball team used a four run sixth inning to defeat Riverside 9-5 on Friday afternoon. The Lady Wolverines were the first to get on the board in the back-and-forth rivalry contest when Ayla Sterner induced Alexis Beck to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.
