POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT: On June 2nd at approximately 8:00p.m. New Castle PSP responded to Frew Mill Rd, Slippery Rock Twp for a report of theft. The victim reported that a total of $10,000.00 had been transferred from their account to another without her knowledge. AGGRIVATED ASSAULT: Joseph Pounds, 32, of Pittsburgh, is charged with Aggravated Assault after an argument occurring on June 3rd. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 7:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to Breakers Bar when they spotted Pounds and several others engaging in a verbal argument. North Sewickley Presbyterian Church To Host Trash-to-Treasure Sale This Weekend

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. North Sewickley Presbyterian Church is hosting its ‘Trash to Treasure’ Sale on Friday, June 20th (9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) and Saturday, June 21st (9:00 a.m. – Noon). The sale will take place at 108 Chapel Drive, Ellwood City, PA 16117 Donations are being accepted thru Thursday, June 19th until 8:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed for the sale and bake sale; sign-up sheets are available. Ellwood City Historical Society Honoring Era of Penny Postcards

The use of penny postcards is long gone, but their influence can still be seen at the Ellwood City Area Historical Society. In the society’s collection are hundreds of early 1900s post cards that can be viewed to see how the town has changed in more than 100 years. The ECAHS is honoring that period of local history and has produced a set of five postcards with more contemporary scenes of Ellwood. CHAMPS AGAIN: Panthers Claim 6th PIAA State Championship

The Riverside Panthers defeated Mount Carmel 4-2 Thursday afternoon to earn its 6th PIAA State Championship. Zach Hare allowed only two hits across 6.1 innings, striking out 11 batters to earn the victory. Hare tossed two innings of no-hit ball before allowing a 2-out single in the top of the third inning to break his hitless inning streak at 34 consecutive hitless innings in the postseason – an amazing streak believed to be a national record.
