Ellwood City Tennis Conducting Mini Clinic In June

Ellwood City Tennis will be conducting a tennis clinic for any boy or girl interested in learning the basics of tennis. The tennis clinic will be held on June 23rd, 24th and 25th, 2025 at the Ewing Park Courts from 10am to 11:15am. Any child ages 5-12 is eligible to sign up and participate. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. The clinic will promote tennis skills from the basic to moderate level. “The participants will learn skills pertaining to tennis. The WPIAL District 7 Champion Riverside Panthers cruised to a 9-0 opening round victory over Huntingdon in the PIAA 3A playoffs Monday afternoon on its home turf. Senior Christian Lucarelli tossed a 3-hit complete game for the Panthers. Lucarelli struck out seven batters and allowed only two walks. The Riverside offense exploded for five runs in the third inning to quickly put the game at bay. John Bowser and Hunter Garvin each picked up RBI singles in the inning while Lucarelli drew a bases loaded walk and a balk and Jackson Barber ground out also envoked runs for the Panthers….


FREE Co-Ed Basketball Camp To Be Offered At Ewing Park Courts In July

A free, five-day co-ed basketball camp is scheduled to begin at the Ewing Park Basketball Courts from Monday, July 28th thru Friday, August 1st. Camp director Bob Rak will lead the camp with assistant coaches Al Campman, Herm Petti, Dr. Brad Brown and Joe Fisher The camp that will run from 10 a.m. till noon during the week. Any boy or girl ages 6–12 are welcome to participate. The cost is FREE – just bring your own basketball and drinks.  Last year the camp drew 42 participants! Life Scout Completes Veterans Memorial Day Project

Life Scout Quinn Smith recently completed an Eagle Scout project that helped showcase a remembrance and reflection that the Memorial Day holiday honors. As part of Troop 806 in Ellwood City, the 17-year-old Lincoln High School Junior set out to check every grave – over 8,600 of them in two Lawrence County cemeteries, Pleasant Hill & Locust Grove, – against the roster of over 1,500 deceased Lawrence & Beaver County Veterans buried there. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

RESISTING ARREST: Blake Zeigler, 24, of Ellwood City, is charged with Resisting Arrest, Public Drunkenness, Disorderly Conduct, and Receiving Stolen Property after an incident on March 20th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 12:27 a.m., police located Zeigler stumbling in and out of the roadway near Haig Street, yelling obscenities, and appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Upon approach by police Zeigler gave inconsistent statements and continued to shout and harass police and evade approaching officers. The Riverside Panthers are WPIAL Champions once again behind historic pitching perfection. Senior Zach Hare tossed a perfect game Thursday evening to lead the Riverside Panthers to a 1-0 victory over Quaker Valley to claim its WPIAL Class 3A Championship. The 15-strikeout, no hit, no walk performance capped a legendary postseason run by the Slippery Rock University commit. Lady Panthers Rally To Knock Off Bentworth, Advance to PIAA Playoffs

Addison Drake hit a go-ahead two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to lead #11 Riverside to a 4-3 victory over Bentworth Tuesday in the Class 2A 3rd place game. Monday was a day to honor those who gave their lives in service to the country. Ellwood City hosted its annual Memorial Day Parade under sunkissed skies Monday morning. Many crowded the streets to enjoy the parade. A tribute to fallen heroes followed the parade at Legion Park along with a community picnic at Circle Playground Heritage Park.  


Berkshire Hathaway Makes Donation To Mayors Office

Buddy Mazzant, a local resident and representative of Berkshire Hathaway Realtors’ Cranberry Office, generously donates $500.00 to his close friend, Ellwood City Mayor Anthony J. Court. The contribution will go towards the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, and Food Festival.
