Phyllis J. Bamberger, 82, of Ambridge, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Heritage Valley, Sewickley Campus Emergency Room. She was born on October 10, 1941 in Ellwood City, to the late Louis L. and Mary A. Zitell. She was a member of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Baden. Phyllis enjoyed praying the Holy Rosary, word puzzles, coloring books, playing board games and cards, watching movies, shopping and going out to eat. Sarah M. Hardy, affectionately known as “Ma” to most, age 95, of New Castle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of Dec. 11, 2023, at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born Jan. 7, 1928, in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Emma D. (Hall) Curry. 10 BC3 Students Receive Department Of Defense-Funded Financial Awards

Steven Pander and Ralph Mulneix, both of Portersville, were among ten Butler County Community College students who received $7,500 this fall in programs that emphasize cybersecurity education and that have collectively grown in enrollment by 32 percent since January. The distribution of financial awards through the use of a U.S. Department of Defense grant brings to at least $32,287 the amount BC3 has provided in 2023 to students in four associate degree career programs and in one associate degree transfer program within its business and information technology division. Roth’s Triple-Double Powers Ellwood City; Jones & Noble Lead Lady Wolverines To Victory

Senior big man Joseph Roth logged a triple-double Tuesday evening to help lead the Ellwood City boys basketball team to 71-59 non-section victory over Serra Catholic. Roth finished with 29 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists in the victory. The Wolverines jumped out to an early 22-5 advantage after the first period but saw the lead dwindle to only five points at halftime as Serra Catholic poured in 24 second quarter points. TERRORISTIC THREATS: Michael Polky, 24, of Georgetown, PA, is charged with Terroristic Threats and Simple Assault after an incident on October 16th. Former Employee of Beaver County Health Care Facility Pleads Guilty To Hate Crime Charges Related To Assaults Against Disabled Residents

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty in federal court to federal hate crime charges, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced on Monday. Tyler Smith, 32, of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy, and one count of violating the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, before United States District Judge J.
