Two Hours of Free Parking

As Ellwood prepares for the holiday season, remember that free holiday parking is in effect for all Ellwood City parking meters on Lawrence Ave., Bell Ave., Crescent Ave., 5th St., 6th St., 7th St., and Beaver Ave. for a maximum of two hours until December 31. Anyone parked beyond the holiday limit will be subject to a $5.00 parking fine.


Police: The Grinch Who Stole Christmas… Decorations

Around this time of year we’re pretty used to the idea of an unsuspecting man coming to our residence to give us free things -we are not however, so prepared for the idea of an unsuspecting individual coming to our houses to steal our things. According to the police report, on Nov. 22 a resident on Pershing St. called to report a theft at their residence. It is assumed that the perpetrators came to the residence between the hours of 12a.m. and 9:25a.m. to steal the Christmas decorations that were set up in the victims front lawn. Ellwood Prepares for Annual Light Up Night

A large evergreen can be spotted in Ellwood’s downtown community plaza patiently awaiting decoration in preparation for Ellwood City’s very own annual Light Up Night. The Ellwood City Chamber of Commerce hosts the Let There Be Lights weekend annually, typically consisting of an array of Christmas themed activities. This year Light Up Night will be Dec. 2 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. in the community plaza. The lighting of the tree is scheduled for 6:30p.m.  The finale to the evening will be a free public showing of the movie Elf, hosted at Lincoln High’s Auditorium starting at 8:15p.m. On Saturday Dec….


Winners of the 2016 Costume Contest Receive Prize

Our contest photo gallery reached over 17,000 views on Facebook alone! Thank you for everyone who participated in the contest. The winners, Braxton Hogue, 1, son of Doug and Hannah Hogue and Anthony Barberio, 8, son of Matt and Chrissy Barberio, were each awarded $50.00 cash for their winning costumes. Police Reports: Man Stabbed at Local Bar

Man Stabbed at Local Bar According to the police report on Nov. 11, two brothers, Zachary and Joseph Pounds, ages 20 and 23, of Ellwood, caused a disturbance at Weisz’s Hazel Manor Bar on North St. The report states the brothers were in the dining room area of the bar ordering food when the younger brother, Zachary, got up and walked around the bar yelling profound and racist obscenities at a man before taking a beer bottle and hitting the unsuspecting individual over the head. A recent trend, The Mannequin Challenge, has been taking the internet by storm- teams of athletes, celebrities, and even tailgaters are participating in the challenge. According to Wikipedia, The Mannequin Challenge is a viral Internet video trend that started in 2016 where people remain frozen in action while a video is recorded, usually with music in the background. The hashtag #MannequinChallenge was used for popular social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. It is believed the phenomenon of remaining motionless like mannequins was started by students from Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida on October 26, 2016….


Halloween Contest Winners

As of 8a.m. November 11, we counted the votes- it was a very close race! We would like to congratulate our first place winner, Braxton Hogue with a whopping total of 450 likes- as a spilled bowl of spaghetti, and our second place winner, Anthony Barberio following closely behind with a total of 436 likes- as a headless version of himself! PHOTOS: Car Crashes Into School Steps

According to the police report, on November 5th at approximately 2:00a.m., an Ellwood officer was monitoring traffic on the corner of Lawrence Ave. and Fourth St. when a black Mercedes C230 sped east on Lawrence Ave. approaching the stop sign on Fourth failing to stop for the sign and then slamming on the brakes to turn sharply into B&B Express’s parking lot to avoid colliding into gas pumps.
