Mrs. Martha Mancini, 94, of Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 in the Ellwood City Hospital. Mrs. Mancini was born on April 25, 1922 in Ellwood City to the late Nick and Virginia Filoia Perazzoni. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1940. She was employed at Ellwood Oldsmobile Agency (McElwains) and worked in the accounting department of the United Tube Corporation. She was a devoted member of the Holy Redeemer Church and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and gardening. Congratulations to the Ellwood City Wolverine Wrestling Team, who just finished their last section match against South Side and won 40-23 clinching the 2nd place spot in our subsection 1B with a section record of 4-1. Police: 13 Year Old Charged After Making Death Threats to the Owners of Stolen Guns

A 13 year old student was apprehended by North Sewickley Police after his direct involvement in a stolen weapons and terroristic threat incident that occurred last week. After the teen was harassing a classmate via social media, the mother of the harassed peer attempted to contact the juveniles parents and during the phone call the teen threatened to shoot the woman – unknowingly to the woman he was referring to shooting her with two loaded hand guns that had been stolen from her husband by the harassing teen and a friend at an earlier occasion. January Agenda Council Meeting Brief

Yesterday held the first of two monthly council meetings. The following was discussed and will be voted on at the next council meeting: Visitors Bill Baur, an Ellwood resident, publicly expressed his concerns about the tax increase and 2017 budget. He mentioned the pay increases for many of the Borough workers, building the public works building and electric building at the same time, and refinancing of existing debt. Five Wolverine wrestlers were victorious in their final matches at the Midwestern Athletic Conference Tournament, which was held January 6-7 at Hopewell High School. In championship matches, at the 132 pound weight class – Ellwood City’s Tyler Alberts collected a major decision and victory over Jake Pail, Freedom, 8-0. In third-place consolation matches, at 120-pound weight class – Tyler Baird was victorious by decision over Nick Reconnu, Montour, 5-1.  In the 145 weight class – Austin Walley, Ellwood City used a major decision to beat Austin Dohl, Quaker Valley, 17-3.
