According to a live video posted by the owners of the Sweet Shop, the Lawrence Avenue shop is set to open this Saturday, June 3! They will be open from 8a.m. until the evening and will offer customers a variety of home made cookies, cupcakes, candy, chocolate covered fruit, and ice cream. “We are so excited and we hope Ellwood is just as excited as we are.” Watch their posted video below:

Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, located right besides Domino’s Pizza in Ellport, is currently seeking students for their vacation bible school (VBS) during June 12-14. As of June the tax office located inside the municipal builiding will be open only one day a week, Wednesday, from 10a.m.-3p.m. In July, after school taxes come out, the office will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10a.m.-3p.m.
The Ellwood City Memorial Day Parade was held Monday morning, honoring the men and women that died in military service for the United States of America. The parade started at 10 a.m. on the Veterans Memorial Bridge and concluded at the memorial park on Spring Avenue near Circle Playground with a free community picnic.
The Ellwood City Farmers Market located at the The Beaver Avenue Parking Lot (500 Block) will be opening again for the season starting this Saturday, June 3. A wide variety of things will be sold at the market mostly including homemade and organic items and food. The market will run every Saturday during the summer through October 7th from 8:00a.m. until noon. Live music from 9:00 – 11:00a.m. Free parking downtown.
Mayor Court has received several phone calls from residents about the “IRS” asking for money for back taxes. Once again several residents (especially elderly residents) are being targeted by phone calls stating that they owe the IRS money for back taxes or fees due to them. The caller tells the resident they must return their call or the IRS (SCAMMER) will begin the procedure to prosecute them for money owed.
