Dennis Patrick D’Angelo

Formerly of Ellwood City Dennis Patrick D’Angelo, age 44, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Born July 20, 1973, in Warren, Pa., he was the son of Sharyn (Oscar) Bastiani and Richard (Nancy) D’Angelo. In addition to his parents, Dennis is survived by his wife, Mendy D’Angelo; two children, Nicholas D’Angelo and Chancey Odom; sisters, Karen (Casey) Tautfest and Vicki (John) Schettler; several aunts, uncles and cousins, and his lifelong friend, Bill Brady of Alabama. Weekly High School Basketball Team Recaps

This week the Ellwood City Boys Varsity team played a very close game against Rochester, defeating them by a mere two points. Rochester took the lead in the second quarter but Ellwood regained control in the third and fourth, ending the game with a close 64-62 victory. Forward Sean Busby was recognized as the “player of the game.” Tonight the Ellwood City Wolverines will face off against their long-time rival, the Panthers at Riverside High School. Riverside Players to be Presented with WPIAL Championship Rings

Tomorrow the players of Riverside’s 2017 varsity baseball team will be receiving their WPIAL Championship rings during the basketball match against Ellwood City. This is the fifth year for Riverside to win the WPIAL Championship. The team won their 2017 season 19-2, losing their last game to Central. The date of the ring presentation was only coincidental, according to Dan Oliastro, head coach of the team. “This was the only game date we could get all of the players together to present the rings. NOTICE: Water Pipe Leak, Blocked Parking Spaces Outside of Municipal Building

Four metered parking spaces next to the Municipal Building on 6th Street have been blocked off due to a water leak causing excess ice. The water company has identified the problem and will be working to fix it in the near future. Anyone who needs to go to the Municipal Building is urged to park at the Lawrence Avenue spaces until further notice.  


Notice of Holiday Parking

Bags on the meters along Lawrence Avenue will be taken off in the upcoming days, ending the two-hour free parking in Downtown Ellwood for the holiday season. Anyone parked without paying the meter between the hours of 9am-5pm is subject to a $5.00 fine.  


Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of January 1, 2017

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: The library will be closed on Monday, January 1, in observance of the New Year’s Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, January 2. VIDEO: ECPD Looking for Armed Robbery Suspect

The Ellwood City Police Department is looking for an armed robber, according to a post on their Facebook. They have since uploaded security footage video to the page showing the thief shying away from the camera and taking money from the cash register. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the station.


Old Photo Friday: Tornado Rips Through Ellwood in 1985

Do you remember when the tornado ripped through Ellwood City, causing damage to homes, businesses, landscape and automobiles in 1985? The tornado, which touched down Friday May 31st 1985, affected numerous businesses and residences surrounding Ellwood City in Big Beaver Borough, North Sewickley Township, Marion Township, and on into southern Butler County.
