Date Released For Town Hall Meeting Regarding The EC Medical Center

On Wednesday, November 7, Ellwood City residents will finally have their chance to ask their looming questions about the recent happenings and what the future entails for the Ellwood City Medical Center as a Town Hall Meeting has been scheduled. The meeting will begin at 6:15 p.m. and is scheduled to be held in the upstairs auditorium of the Ellwood City Municipal Building according to interim Borough Manager, Joe Cioffi Officials from the Florida-based Americore Health LLC, including CEO Grant White, will be in attendance. Panthers, Lady Wolverines Both Looking To Advance In WPIAL Playoffs Thursday

Two local high school teams will continue their championship quests in their respective WPIAL playoff games Thursday evening. The Riverside boys soccer team marched onto the second round of the Class 1A WPIAL Playoffs with a 2-0 victory Monday night over Carlynton. The Panthers (11-2-1 overall) are set to face off against Avonworth Thursday evening at Ambridge with a 6:30 game time.  Avonworth defeated Mohawk 4-0 in their opening round contest. The Ellwood City Police Department is sponsoring the Got Drugs event for safe disposal of unused or expired medication on Saturday, October 27. Ellwood City Varsity Girls Volleyball On To WPIAL Playoffs

The Lady Wolverines squad collected a birth in the WPIAL volleyball playoffs that begin this week.  Ellwood City will face a 6-6 Beth Center team in a play-in round of the WPIAL Playoffs Tuesday evening.  The match will take place at Our Lady of Sacred Heart at 6:30pm. Samuel R. Heaton, Sr., 93

Mr. Samuel R. Heaton, Sr., 93, of Big Beaver Borough passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the UPMC Jameson Hospital. Mr. Heaton was born on September 18, 1925 in the Plain Grove area to the late Bartholomew E, and Minnie L. (Smith) Heaton. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II as a communications and radar specialist with the rank of Seaman First Class. REC Wrestling Registration Information

On Thursday, October 25 from 6:00 p.m until 7:30 p.m, boys and girls from first grade up to sixth grade can come and sign up for the 2018-2019 REC Wrestling season.  This is the third and final date in a series of registrations dates held for the program. Sign ups will be held in the Lincoln High School Commons Area.  The REC Wrestling program fundamentals include safety, sportsmanship, fun and achievement. “Set goals. Have a plan. Work hard. The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 month of age, toddlers, and preschoolers.  This is an interactive, family event and features stories, songs, games, finger plays and more.  Registration is requested. Riverside Boys & Girls Varsity Soccer Teams Onto Playoffs

Riverside Panthers boys and girls soccer teams have both advanced to the WPIAL Playoffs that begin this weekend. The Riverside girls team are first to play on Saturday, October 20th in an opening round contest against defending WPIAL Champion Greensburg Central Catholic.  The game will take place at 1:00pm at Hampton School District.  The winner will advance to a second round match-up versus the OLSH/Beth Center winner. Riverside & Ellwood Boys Golf Teams Share Section Co-Championship

The Riverside and Ellwood boys golf teams both had extremely successful seasons. Their records led to the two, normal rivals, to be crowned section co-champs. For the Wolverines, the team was led by senior co-captains Broc Boariu and Alex Scott.
