REMINDER: 2024 Mayor Beautification Awards Set To Begin

Ready, Set, Spring! Mayor Anthony J. Court will once again be doing the “Beautification Awards Program” for Ellwood City residents. This is the 15th year of this successful program. There will be six winners and each will be awarded a gift certificate from a local restaurant and yard sign to display. Trio Of Local Playoff Games Set For Tuesday

Three local teams will compete on Tuesday in the opening round of their respective WPIAL playoffs Top seeded Panthers boys baseball team will look to defend its WPIAL title as it opens its 2024 playoff journey on Tuesday. Riverside will take on #16 Keystone Oaks at 4:30 p.m. at North Allegheny High School. Riv-Ell Presentations: Food trucks, Mobile Florists, Special-Service Funeral Homes

Eleven seniors at Lincoln High School and four at Riverside presented business plans April 25 as the capstone project in a Riv-Ell Entrepreneurship Program and in pursuit of a 16-credit Butler County Community College workplace certificate in entrepreneurship funded by donors. Wayne Township 2024 Clean-Up Day Announced

Wayne Township residents are invited to participate in the annual clean-up day, which will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. until Noon at the Wayne Township Municipal Building, located at 1418 Wampum Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117. Girl Scout Troop 28845 Fills New Outdoor Food Pantry

The Brownies of Girl Scout Troop 28845 worked on part of a badge, called Take Action on Wednesday, May 1st and filled a new outdoor food pantry at Trinity Lutheran Church. The requirements of the troop badge is to give back to the community. The troop decided to make an outdoor food pantry with the help of Mark DiFrischia and SCS Designs. Record 15 Riv-Ell Students Pitch Business Plans

A record 15 high school seniors profiting from a yearlong Riv-Ell Entrepreneurship Program pitched business plans April 25 that impressed Ellwood City area leaders and in pursuit of graduating from Butler County Community College on May 15 with a 16-credit workplace certificate funded by donors. The 11 Lincoln and four Riverside seniors in 2023-2024 represent the largest group to seek the post-secondary credential in a 6-year-old program that combines academic coursework with practical experiences. The Ellwood City boys track and field team placed third in the WPIAL Class 2A team championship at Peters Township Middle School on Tuesday. The Wolverines defeated Hopewell 79-61 to earn the third place finish. “I think many teams underestimated us this year and we proved everyone wrong,” said head coach Nate Brown. “We started with several postponed meets and my belief is the calendar beat us up pretty badly. The Riverside baseball team completed its critical two-game sweep of Mohawk on Tuesday, earning a 9-4 road victory and clinching the Section 1-3A title.
