Ellwood City Country Singer Tony Barge Receives Proclamation

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a surprise proclamation Saturday, July 23rd to Local Ellwood City Country Singer Tony Barge. It was presented to Tony before his performance with the Hony Tonk Heroes at the Ellwood City Community Plaza. “It was such an honor to give recognition to Tony Barge. ELLWOOD Group, Inc. To Invest In Aluminum Tooling Plate Production Facility

ELLWOOD has announced plans for significant investment in its New Wilmington, Pa, ELLWOOD Specialty Steel (ESS) facility. The investment will give ESS the ability to produce its own Aluminum Tooling Plate (ATP) to better meet its customers’ needs. The new ATP facility will comprise a state-of-the-art, fully automated sawing, machining, quality control, lamination, storage and packaging line on the grounds of the current ESS facility. Franklin Township To Host 9th Annual National Night Out Event

Come on outside and celebrate an annual National Night Out event, held the first Tuesday in August. This year the Franklin Township Police & Volunteer Fire Department invite you to the community outing scheduled on Tuesday, August 2nd 2022. David Carl Tammaro, 69

David Carl Tammaro, 69, of Waynesboro, went home to be with the Lord on Friday July 8, 2022. He was born on August 5, 1952, in Ellwood City, PA, to the late Phillip Anthony Tammaro, SR, and Mary Pishioneri Tammaro. David faithfully served as a member of the US Army from 1972 until 1974. He moved from Pennsylvania to Waynesboro in 1987, and retired from Southern Company as a Security Instructor in August of 2016. David was very generous in his support of various organizations such as Wounded Warrior Project and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a huge…

Congratulations are in order for the Fifth Beautification Winner! Mayor Anthony Court presented Phil and Doris Conklin of 312 Orchard Avenue. “Pastor Conklin and his wife enjoy working in their yard and it surely shows,” says Mayor Court in a statement. They were excited to be one of the winners of Mayor Court’s Beautification Program. The Conklin’s were presented with a yard sign to display and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Members of Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation (ECIAHF) are asked to report if they are planning to attend the Friday, July 22, 2022 meeting. No Ordinary Joe: Ellwood City Man’s Estate Adds To SRU Gift

SLIPPERY ROCK — The largest gift ever contributed by a private individual to Slippery Rock University is even larger than expected. Last year, SRU received a record $1.1 million gift from the estate of Joseph McCandless, who passed away January 14, 2020. The gift total now exceeds $1.8 million with the McCandless estate donating an additional $700,000 on June 24. That means even more money to support SRU students and additional funds to preserve one of the most fascinating buildings on campus.
