PHOTOS: Annual Panther Night

The annual Panther Night was held Thursday at Riverside Memorial Stadium. Panther Night is a community event celebrating back to school and Fall sports teams and kicked off with the Riverside Marching Band performing and the introduction of the athletes. The event features food booths run buy many of the district booster organizations along with two food trucks and an array of apparel offerings available to help support student athletes as well. The Riverside Panthers Varsity Football team hosts Northgate on Friday, August 30th at 7:00 p.m. to kick off its regular season.


EC Girls Golf Picks Up First Win of Season, Boys Golf Remains Undefeated

The Ellwood City girls golf team picked up their first win of the regular season Thursday while the boys team keeps on winning. The girls golf team earned their first win of the season Thursday afternoon, knocking off Mohawk 211-217 at Delmar Golf Course. Rori Minerd paced the Lady Wolverines with a low match score of 47. Rylee Prestopine (58), Romy Westlund (60), and Chelsea Baker (62) rounded out the scoring for the victors. Pine Valley Camp Hosting 11th Annual Ride For Hope

The 11th Annual Pine Valley Ride for Hope will take place on Saturday, September 21th. The ride is set to begin and end at the New Castle Harley-Davidson dealership. After the ride to Pymatuning Spillway, all participants can look forward to a delicious meal provided by Muddy Creek BBQ and musical entertainment by the band Flashback. Cost is $25.00 for a driver, includes a shirt and meal. $15.00 for passenger, and $10 for walk-in diners. Auction and raffle winners announced after the meal. THEFT: Steven Tedrow, 34, of Ellwood City is charged with Theft after an incident occurring on April 4th at approximately 10:30p.m. A victim told police his credit card was stolen and used for the following purchases: Speedway April 4th, at 11:24p.m. $108.71 for a carton of cigarettes, April 4th at 11:28p.m. $104.31 for a carton of cigarettes, Sunoco Gas Station on April 4th at 11:51p.m. $106.95 declined purchase of a carton of cigarettes according to a criminal complaint. Ellwood City Wolverines 2024 Fall Sports Tickets Now Available

Tickets for the Ellwood City Wolverines Fall Sport Season will be sold on-line at gofan.co or the Go Fan app. Ellwood City will be slowly making the change to digital ticketing for all sports. There will be no tickets sold at the school at this time.  There will be a limited amount  of Adult tickets, $5.00, that can be purchased at the gate for each home game this season. Ellwood City Boys Golf Team Knocks Off Riverside, Improves To 5-0

Three Wolverine golfers went low on Monday to help Ellwood City remain unbeaten as they knocked off rival Riverside 199-220 at Del Mar Golf Course. Jordan Keller fired a match-low round of 33 to lead the Wolverines.  Jaxon Rozanski and Nate Kennedy also each submitted sub-40 rounds, finishing with rounds of 39 respectively. Andy Lin (46) and Braden Roberts (42) rounded out the scoring for Ellwood City. Drake Fox fired a team-low round of 41 for the Panthers in defeat. Pie Festival, Panther Night On Thursday!

Both Ellwood City and Riverside school districts will kick off their respective back to school seasons with community events on Thursday, August 22nd. Ellwood City will host its annual Lincoln High School Marching Blue Band Pie Festival at Helling Stadium in Ewing Park. Tickets are $5.00 to redeem for an Amish hand pie and bottle of water. Gates open at 6:00. Show starts at 7:00. Blue Band Boosters will serve pie 6:00-7:00 and will resume serving after the show so everyone can celebrate the athletes and enjoy the show. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

ASSAULT: On July 23rd at approximately 8:09 a.m. police were called due to a report of domestic abuse between a male and female at a residence on State Line Road, Little Beaver Township. The caller advised police that the female told him she was struck with a gun by her boyfriend, Denis Lozinsky. According to a criminal complaint police arrived on scene and had concluded that the victim was no longer inside the residence. Officers attempted to hail Lozinskiy before making entry. It is reported that Lozinskiy then used the weapon to end his life as police entered the residence….
