Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of Aug. 1, 2016

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:

Wednesday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a new concept in helping to reduce the stresses of everyday life. These weekly sessions are returning to Wednesday mornings now that summer is drawing to a close. Call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.

Wednesday, August 3, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Remember Me Like This,” by Bret Anthony Johnston. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, August 4, at 12:00 Noon – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group for students in 6th through 8th grades. The group will discuss the book, “The Glass Sentence,” by S.E. Grove. Call the library for more information.

Thursday, August 4, at 6:30 p.m. — “Family Movie Night,” featuring a full-length feature film. The event is free and open to all area children and their families. Since this is a family night event, all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown.

Saturday, August 5, at 12:00 Noon – “Twenty-Something,” a book discussion group for college students and those in their 20s. The group will discuss the book, “Red Rising,” by Pierce Brown. Call the library for more information.

“Fairy Tale Theater,” a program designed for preschoolers and early elementary-aged children, will be held on three consecutive Thursday evenings in August: the 11th, 18th and 25th. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and features puppet plays presented by teen performers. Only floor seating is available. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.

“Movie Nights for Adults” are held monthly throughout the year and feature new-to-DVD films. All area adults are welcome to attend at no charge. Refreshments are served. Call the library now for more information or to find out the titles of the movie to be shown.

The library is now accepting donations of books for the annual Book Sale scheduled for October 3-8. Books of all types in good condition are welcomed. The library will NOT accept any encyclopedias, no textbooks, no magazines and no Readers’ Digest Condensed books. Donations may be dropped off at the library during normal business hours.
