Riverside Responds, Shuts Out Wolverines 1-0

Both teams were strong on the mound on Tuesday, but Riverside defeated Ellwood City 1-0 behind a stellar pitching performance by Matt Santillo.

The victory evened the mini home-and-home series between the two clubs as Ellwood City collected its home victory on Monday.

Santillo went the distance for the Panthers, striking out seven, walking three and allowing only three hits across his complete game performance.

The lone run of the contest came by way of a solo homerun by Dylan Meyer in the six inning.

Nate Kennedy took the loss for Ellwood City. The starter went six innings, giving up one run on five hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Meyer went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Cole Vogel, Logan Young, Dylan Meyer, McCartney Plassmeyer, and Chase Boehm each collected one hit for Riverside.

Gino Biondi doubled and collected two hits for Ellwood City and Matt Kelly also doubled.

Next up for Riverside (2-4 Overall) is a game at Mohawk Area on Tuesday, April 7th.  Ellwood City (5-1 Overall) will host Sto-Rox on Tuesday.
