Ellwood City has been selected for an Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) mission through the U.S. Department of Defense.
The mission’s name is Operation Healthy Ellwood and from July 23rd to August 1st the borough will have approximately 200 reservists from all branches of the military present in our town. This is a NO COST opportunity for anyone in any community to get access to medical, dental, vision, behavioral health, and veterinary services.
The Borough is seeking donations of the items listed below:
- TOILET PAPER
- PAPER TOWELS
- HAND SOAP
- FACIAL TISSUE
- CLEANING SUPPLIES
- GENERAL PURPOSE CLEANER (E.G. MR CLEAN)
- DISINFECTING WIPES
- REAMS OF COPY PAPER
- DISINFECTING SPRAY
The following businesses and organizations have offered to host donation boxes for the mission:
- Ellwood City Moose Lodge
- Konsignment Konnections
- McElwain Motor Car Company
- National Grind
A box is also located in the lobby of the municipal building.
Monetary or gift card donations may also be made by dropping off at the Utility Billing Window at the Municipal Building or mailing them to:

The Borough will have a representative of the IRT Mission at Wander Ellwood on Wednesday, July 16th! Stop and see Col. Nicole Ewing Hurley at the IRT table! There will also be a collection box for items at the IRT table and a monetary collection box at the Chamber of Commerce table.
On July 31st, the borough will be hosting a Distinguished Visitor’s Day at Sunset Ranch on Heinz Camp Road.
