Evans Monumental Gifts Seeks Vendors and Sponsors for 3rd Annual Carnival in Ellwood City

On Saturday, August 16, from noon to 6 p.m., Ewing Park will be bustling with the festivities of Evan’s Monumental Gifts’ 3rd Annual Carnival. This family-friendly event aims to raise funds to support grieving families in Western Pennsylvania by providing headstones for children who have passed away.

Kiara Bollinger, founder of Evan’s Monumental Gifts, said the carnival will be the place to be.

“There will be a lot do to,” she said. “It will be a really nice event!”

According to Bollinger the day will be filled with entertainment for all ages, including games, bounce houses, a petting zoo, live performances, food vendors, raffles, arts and crafts, and a “Touch a Truck” experience.  Admission is free, with a $10 wristband available for children to participate in activities.

Bollinger said the organization has already provided 28 headstones this year for families just in the local area.

“We’ve had a lot more applications this year, so it’s very important for people to know what we are doing and how we are really working to help families. It’s great that we are able to do this to help.”

Bollinger said last year’s carnival was a hit. The kids loved the bounce houses, petting zoo, and games.

is year there are a couple new things including ‘Touch a Truck,’ take-home arts and crafts, and live performances including a performer who does hula hooping and juggling.”

Call for Vendors and Sponsors

To make this event a success, Evan’s Monumental Gifts is actively seeking vendors and sponsors. Vendors will have the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the community with a 10×10 space for $40 (food, Crochet, 3d print and Sublimation vendors are covered, but the organization is looking for other unique vendors), while sponsors can gain visibility and demonstrate their commitment to supporting grieving families. The deadline to sign up to sponsor the event is July 1.

About Evans Monumental Gifts

Founded by Kiara and Eric Bollinger after the loss of their son Evan, Evan’s Monumental Gifts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting families in Mercer, Lawrence, Beaver, Butler, and Allegheny Counties.  The organization provides financial assistance for headstones to families who have lost a child under 18 within the past five years and are experiencing financial hardship.

In 2018, the Bollingers were expecting their second child. They had already picked out a name: Evan. The couple and family were so excited to bring Evan into this world, but an unexpected turn of events changed the Bollinger’s lives forever. Three months into her pregnancy, the Bollingers discovered that Evan had Holoprosencephaly, which means his brain did not divide properly. After genetic testing, it was discovered that it was caused by an extra chromosome number 13. Trisomy 13. The Bollingers decided to continue the pregnancy and have any moments possible with Evan. He was born on Jan 7, 2019, and for one week until his death, the Bollingers spent time with Evan and held onto hope that medical intervention would save their son.

Because of the struggles the Bollingers faced alone such as buying a headstone and burial plot instead of a crib, they wanted to help others in the same situation and founded Evan’s Monumental Gifts.

In addition to the non-profit they run, and this annual carnival, they host an annual holiday drive (This will be the sixth year for the drive. Last year the organization helped 250 families). And this year on November 15 they will host a craft show at the Patterson Township Fire Hall (more details to come).

Join the community in supporting a meaningful cause while enjoying a day of fun and remembrance at Ewing Park this August.
