Ellwood City Wolves Host Annual Scholarship Dinner

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den II hosted their annual Scholarship Dinner on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the Connequenessing Country Club. The club provides 9 scholarships a year ($16,000) to graduating seniors from Lincoln and Riverside high schools and to two community college students.

The Wolves Club members, guests, school guidance counselors, community college representatives and Scholarship winners were greeted by Scholarship Committee Chairman John DiBuono.  Dennis Boariu served as Master of Ceremonies.

Pastor Paul Moore of the Union Goodwill Community Church provided the invocation.

The attendees enjoyed a dinner of penne pasta in vodka sauce, squash medley, champagne chicken and carved roast beef.

Awards were presented to the Riverside students by Wolves Club member and former educator Ray Santillo.

Bryan Bartell, son of Donald and Kathy Bartell, was awarded the $1,200 Dennis Gottuso Scholarship. The Gottuso Scholarship is in honor of Dennis Gottuso one of the first winners of a Wolves Club Scholarship. The Gottuso family donates $2,400 a year back to the Club for scholarships. It is split between Lincoln and Riverside high schools.

Bryan will attend Penn State and study Industrial Engineering.

Alexis Fluharty, daughter of Jason and Erika Fluharty, was awarded the$1,000 Sam Teolis Family Scholarship. This scholarship comes from donations to the Club in memory of Sam Teolis Sr.

Emma Thellman, daughter of Ron and April Thellman, was awarded a $5000 scholarship and plans to attend Geneva College to study Elementary and Special Education.

Kevin McKinney, a son of Kevin M. And Normita McKinney, and was awarded a $750 scholarship to Beaver County Community College. Kevin is currently a student in the Professional Pilot Program.

April Thellman, Lincoln High School guidance counselor, presented the $1,000 Carl Agostinelli scholarship to Kaci Barnett who wishes to attend Grove City College to study Business. This scholarship is in memory of long time Wolves Club member Carl Agostinelli.

Isaiah Lutz, son of Derrick and Amy Lutz. Was presented the $500 Tony Celli scholarship, honoring the memory of long time member Tony Celli. Isaiah will be attending the University of South Carolina-Lancaster to study Business

Evan Magill, son of Tom and Kim Magill, was awarded the other $1200 Dennis Gottuso scholarship. Evan would like to attend Penn State University and study Secondary education with a major in Physics.

Ryan Turner, son of Laura Turner was awarded the $5,000 Wolves scholarship. He wants to attend Grove City and study Business Analytics.

The last scholarship of $750 to Butler County Community College went to Sofia Linville. she was not able to attend.

Dennis Boariu remarked that The Wolves Club has been a part of the Ellwood City area for over 75 years providing $400,000 in scholarships.

The Benediction was said by Pastor Paul Moore.
