The Ellwood City Girls Basketball Team routed New Brighton 69-15 Monday night, improving their record to 5-1 on the young season.
Kayla Jones poured in a game-high 23 points to lead the offensive charge as the visiting Wolverines.
Ellwood City used an impressive 22-1 first quarter spurt to quickly dismantle the Lions as the Wolverines led 48-4 at halftime.
Cailtin Kreitzer added 15 points for Ellwood City as seven Wolverines scored in the contest.
Ellwood City hosts two more home games this week ahead of a Shenango Christmas Tournament. The Lady Wolverines host Aliquippa on Wednesday night and Wilmington Area on Friday night.
On Friday night, the Ellwood City Boys Basketball Team defeated New Brighton 75-33 behind a balanced scoring attack.
All five starters reached double figures and five Wolverines combined to connect on 11 3-pointers in the victory.
Joseph Roth and Colten Crizer led the way with 13 point scoring efforts while Aaron Lake (12 points), Chris Smiley (11 points, three 3-poiters), and Nate Williams (10 points, two 3-pointers) help the offensive attack.
Ellwood City led 46-16 at halftime.
Freshman Keithen Jones connected on two 3-pointers en route to six points off the bench. Chuckie Schweinsberg (4 points), Nate Kennedy, and Maykel Cuevas each made three pointers for Ellwood City (3-4 Overall).
Ellwood City next travels to battle section foe Neshannock on Tuesday evening and will stay on the road for a game at Shenango on Friday evening before their Mercer Christmas Tournament.
