Ellwood City Borough Facade Improvement Program Among Seven County Projects Funded By $1.2M Rescue Plan Act

On Wednesday, the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners approved $1,124,305.00 in American Rescue Plan Act funding for seven impactful projects across Lawrence County.

“It’s critical that the Board of Commissioners continues to appropriate this funding to community projects which spur economic growth, enhance workforce outcomes, invest in infrastructure projects, and provide better human services outcomes for our county residents,” said Lawrence County Commissioners Chairman Morgan Boyd in a social media post.

Notably, and locally, the Borough of Ellwood City will received $25,000 for its Facade Improvement Program.

The Ellwood City Borough, in partnership with Lawrence County, is undertaking a face improvement program along Lawrence Avenue. With state grant support already awarded for the project, the county’s $25,000 provides matching funds for Ellwood City to leverage against state funds for a total public investment of $100,000.00.

In December, the Façade Improvement Program was among the recipients to receive grants awarded through the Keystone Communities Program.

Other projects include:

  • LCCAP, Human Services Family Preservation Program, $276,105.00
  • Westminster College, Nursing Program Expansion, $250,000.00
  • Mahoning Township, Sewer Treatment Plant Capital Improvement, $250,000.00
  • Michael Baker International, Broadband Development Plan, $244,750.00
  • New Wilmington EDC, Facade Improvement Program, $60,000.00
  • Lawrence County IT Department, Cybersecurity Upgrades, $18,450.00
