The Riverside Lions Club was busy during the holiday season.
With the support of Project Homefront the club was able to distribute toys to five different locations in our area just in time for Christmas.
The club distributed them to Riverside Elementary School, Perry Elementary, North Side Kindergarten, Central Valley School, and Divine Grace Social Services. Pictured are Tracy McCay, a teacher from Riverside School District, and Lynn Campbell, a member of the club.
Club members also got together and wrapped Christmas gifts for the remaining two nursing homes in our area. The gifts were paintings from Sue Leisie, Daughter-in-Law to Paul Leisie, a club member.
The Lions Club has been donating Christmas gifts to the homes for at least 17 years according to Chip Campbell.
In a “passing of the torch” moment, Mike Kuglics is shown handing the original Lions Club Charter of the Northeastern Lions Club, to current club Secretary Lynn Campbell.
Lion Mike has recently stepped down as Secretary of the club after holding that position for 42 years. Looking on is King Lion Chip Campbell. The Northeastern Lions became the Riverside club in the early 60’s. once Riverside School system came into existence.
Finally, Riverside matched a monetary donation from the Ellwood City Forge to the Hygiene Helpers project and purchased hygiene products to be split between Divine Grace Social Services in Ellwood City and Riverside School district. With the donation the club purchased hand sanitizer, Kleenex and Deodorant.
Pictured are Andy Liller, club member, and Ellwood Forge employee, and Chris Spoa, a volunteer at Divine Grace. Liller was instrumental in obtaining the donation from the Forge.
