Rose Rossi Celebrates 100th Birthday

Rose Y. Rossi of Newhaven Court, Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, celebrated her 100th birthday at Shakespeare’s Restaurant in Ellwood City, with 90 family members, relatives and friends from Texas, Florida, Ohio and PA.

She lived in Ellwood City from the age of 6 until she was 99 years old.

The former Rose Giacobbi was born October 3, 1922 in McComas, W.V., daughter of the late Alphonso and Chlorinda Marinucci Giacobbi. She had four sisters and brother-in-laws, all of which are deceased, Josephine (Frank) DeCaria, Inese (Jim) Bellissimo, Helen (Angelo) Lordi and Florence (Joe) Folino. She married Ernest A. Rossi on July 15, 1944. They were married for 58 years, he was deceased in 2002.

She has 2 children, Mary Ference (Dean) of Cranberry Township and the late Dennis Rossi (Peggy) of Houston, Texas. She has 4 grandchildren (Kevin Ference, Greg Ference, Rosalie Rossi and Kathleen Tyler) and 3 greatgrandchildren (Ryan Tyler, Addie Ference and Nathan Ference).

She worked at the Aetna Standard/Blaw Knox Engineering Company of Ellwood City for 25 years, first in the payroll division and later as a stenographer. She retired in 1985.

She is a member of Holy Redeemer Parish – Divine Grace Parish in Ellwood City.
