The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458.
Activities taking place this week include
MONDAY, JULY 8
10:00 a.m. – “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. It is designed to help reduce stresses of everyday life. All adults are welcome.
TUESDAY, JULY 9
10:00 a.m. – “Jump Start to Kindergarten,” a program designed for children entering kindergarten in the fall. The program focuses on reviewing – in a fun way – what children need to know to begin school. Registration is required, so call the library for more information. 724-758-6458.
6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers and preschoolers. This is an interactive, family event and features stories, songs, games, finger plays and more. Registration is requested.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 10
10:00 a.m. – “Aliens, Underpants and UFO’s,” a space themed program for kids that have completed Kindergarten and 1st grade.
11:00 a.m. – “Aliens, Underpants and UFO’s,” a spaced themed program for kids that have completed 2nd and 3rd grades.
Noon – “Book Bunch Book Group,” they will be discussing the book “The Lemonade War” by Jacqueline Davies.
1:00 p.m. – “Building Buddies,” a program of fun and learning for toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program allows kids to explore building and socialization skills. No registration is required.
THURSDAY, JULY 11
10 a.m. – “Puppet Theater Workshop,” designed for students in 4th grade and up. The kids create plays and they meet throughout the summer to rehearse the plays using marionettes and puppets. Then, in late July, those participating present their plays to family, friends and other Summer Reading Program-goers.
Noon – “Hooked on Books Book Group,” they will be discussing the book “The Girl Who Drank the Moon” by Kelly Barnhill.
6:00 p.m. – “Family Movie Night,” designed for preschoolers and early elementary-aged children. A full-length feature film is shown and refreshments are served. Since this is a family night event, all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library for more information 724-758-6458.
