Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:
The library will be closed on Monday, May 28, in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, May 29.
Tuesday, May 29, at 10:00 a.m. – The Library Anniversary Committee will meet at to discuss upcoming fundraisers and events. New members are always welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
Wednesday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, May 30, at 1:00 p.m. — “Building Buddies,” a new program of fun and learning for toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program allows kids to explore building and socialization skills. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.
Thursday, May 31, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group whose members meet weekly to work on individual projects. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information
Saturday, June 2, at 10:00 a.m. – “Silly Science and Lego Day,” a monthly program that features silly science experiments, Lego building and fun with robotics. The program is designed for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.
Saturday, June 2, at 12:00 Noon – “Twenty-Something Book Discussion Group,” designed for college-aged students and people in their twenties. The group meets once each month for book discussion and pizza. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.
The “Arts and Bots Club” from the Ellwood City Area School District will be displaying and demonstrating their robotics creations at the Ellwood City Library from 10 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, June 9. These 5th and 6th graders will have on display the items they created at the schools that week. The public is invited to drop by and see the work and the creativity exhibited by the students.
A “Family Movie Night” is planned for Thursday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m. as a kickoff to the Summer Reading Program. A full-length feature film will be shown and refreshments will be served. Since this is a family night event, all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library for more information.
All Summer Reading Programs begin in June and are available to all area babies, toddlers, preschoolers, elementary-aged children and teens. Featured are weekly programs for children in K-3; book discussion groups for all ages, from 3rd grade and up; a “Puppet Theater Workshop” for students in 4th grade and up, and much more. Registration is required for all programs, so call the library for more information and a schedule of activities.
The library is now accepting book donations for the Annual Book Sale which is scheduled for October 1-6. Books of all types in good condition may be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. The library will NOT accept textbooks of any type, no magazines, no Readers’ Digest Condensed Books, no encyclopedias and no VHS tapes. Call the library for more information.
