The Ellwood City Police and Fire Departments have each issued public safety notices related to the winter weather, snow, and safety of our community.
A Message from Ellwood City Police Department and Sgt. Michael McBride:
To the residents of Ellwood City and Ellport:
With the warmer weather approaching, we want to remind everyone to please keep your vehicle doors locked and remove any valuables from sight. We have recently received reports of vehicles being entered and items being taken. Most of these incidents involve unlocked cars, making them easy targets. A simple step like locking your doors can greatly reduce the chance of becoming a victim. If you see any suspicious activity, please report it to the Ellwood City Police Department immediately by calling 911. Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our community safe.

A Message from Ellwood City Fire Department made available on social media February 3, 2026:
Ellwood City Residents, If you are physically able, Please shovel your sidewalks. We have had people fall and get injured, we have kids walking to school in the roadway because they cannot navigate the sidewalks. Someone is going to be severely injured. If you own a business in town, please clear and salt your sidewalks. Unfortunately this snow is here to stay and the temperatures are not going to be high enough to melt the snow for some time. We are all in the same boat here so please lets come together and help each other out. The elderly are at the most risk and they are not able to shovel themselves, lend a hand if you are able. Thank you all in advance for your cooperation in this matter. Please stay safe in the cold weather.
