Mayor Court Releases Statement Concerning The Cold Weather

Mayor Anthony J. Court released a letter/statement on Monday concerning the cold weather.

Dear Residents of Ellwood City:

I wanted to take some time to provide some advice and recommendations on navigating the extreme winter weather we are experiencing. There is more cold weather coming and we often take our fantastic emergency services for granted here in the Borough of Ellwood City. Here are a few suggestions on how to better prepare yourself and loved ones for an emergency.

  1. Be sure to have a secondary heating source if possible.
  2. Have extra canned food available and an independent cooking source like a small propane grill. Have a case or two of bottled water available as well.
  3. Check on your Elderly loved ones daily.
  4. Be sure to add blankets, bottled water and warm clothing in your vehicle while traveling.
  5. Ensure your vehicle has good tires and keep all vehicles full of fuel (at least half tank).
  6. Keep sidewalks and driveways clear of snow and ice.
  7. Bring outside animals indoor if possible and ensure they have proper shelter, food and water.
  8. Lastly, be a good neighbor and help others if possible. Remember you may be the one needing help next.

Sincerely,
Mayor Anthony J. Court
