Kick off your Holiday’s with a series of events hosted by the Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce.
First, on Friday, downtown will light up with the lighting of the holiday tree in the Ellwood City Community plaza at 7:30 p.m. as part of Ellwood City’s Light Up Night.
Live entertainment will take place from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the plaza and on Lawrence Avenue and fireworks will be set off behind the plaza after the tree lighting! Vendors of all kinds will be set up from 4th street through 6th street, along with horse drawn carriage rides from Misty Lane Farms.
Stroll through a winter wonderland filled with street vendors, food trucks, and festive storefronts. Make your way to the Ellwood City Municipal Building at 6 PM to hear the enchanting sounds of the Sanctuary Jazz Brass Choir or visit the plaza to enjoy the harmonious melodies of the Riverside High School Chorus, live performances, and beats by an area favorite DJ.
Even Santa himself will be making an appearance!
“Let there be Lights is pure Holiday magic with an evening filled with festive community spirit,” says Chamber executive director, Ryan McCandless.
Saturday marks the annual Ellwood City Christmas Parade that will take place on Lawrence Avenue at 3:30 p.m. Sleigh bells will be ringing, and the town will be singing as the parade makes its way down Lawrence Avenue from 4th Street to 8th Street. Bring your friends and family … It’s the most wonderful time of the year and we can’t wait to share it with you.
On Saturday, December 14th, the Chamber hosts an Ugly Sweater 5K Fun Run in Ewing Park. Runners will ‘take their mark’ at 4:30 p.m. near Helling Stadium [Joffre Street starting point – Ewing Park – Ellwood City, PA. All participants will receive a long-sleeve tech shirt, and finisher medal!
“The race has been moved to a late afternoon start so the runners can run though the lights in Ewing Park,” says McCandless.
Every evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., visit Ewing Park for a drive through magical journey of dazzling lights, festive displays, and holiday cheer. Stop by Trefoil Lodge on opening night for a visit with Santa! (Additional dates with Santa to be announced by the Chamber)
Each Wednesday and Friday, the Chamber opens the donation booth to a local organization or charity and 100% of the evening’s proceeds go directly to their cause. Organizations are drawn at random.
