Karin Marie Nussbaum

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Karin Marie Nussbaum.

Karin was born in Germany on March 12, 1957, to Hans and Erna (Belka) Nussbaum and came to America as a nine-month old. She grew up in Ellwood City in a happy neighborhood. She graduated from Ellwood City High School in 1977 and later from Jameson Nursing School in New Castle. She became a cardiac nurse and worked in Central Medical Hospital in Pittsburgh for a number of years.

ln her youth, she loved camping, hiking and riding horses. Later she learned to love long-stitch embroidery and became very good at it. She was a generous, loving and feisty woman who never let a chance to help someone pass her by.

She was preceded in death by her mother (Erna) and her father (Hans). She is survived by her sister, Lydia (Edward) Mansur and a number of relatives still living in Germany.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service for Karin which will be held at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. on Thursday, December 21st at 3:00 pm with Robert Niggel officiating. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contribution’s in Karin’s name may be made to: Ellwood City Area Public Library, Good Samaritan Hospice House Wexford, or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ellwood City.
