PART 2: Winter Sports Q&A – Riverside

Winter sports are back in action at Riverside High School. The two most popular right now are Basketball and Swimming.

We had a chance to catch up with some of the athletes from each of these teams to see what they are doing to prepare for the season ahead and their plans for the future.

This is part two of a two part series featuring area seniors in winter sports. PART 1 featured Ellwood City student athletes.

Kayden Clyde

How many years have you have played? 1

What do you feel is your biggest strength? Defense

What is your favorite part of it? The team and people around us

Who do you feel is your biggest rivalry this upcoming season? Ellwood City

What are your future plans after graduation? Trade School

Do you plan to continue to play sports after high school? On the side I plan to

Darren McDade

Sport? Basketball

Grade? 12

How many years have you have played? 9 years, since 4th Grade

What do you feel is your biggest strength? Rebounding and Inside defense

What is your favorite part of it? The team camaraderie

Who do you feel is your biggest rivalry this upcoming season? Ellwood City

What has been your favorite memory been over the years? Beating Ellwood on their court last year

What are your future plans after graduation? Going to college for mechanical or nuclear engineering

Do you plan to continue to play sports after high school? No

Aidan Adams

Sport? Swimming

Grade? 12

How many years have you have you been swimming? 1

What do you feel is your biggest strength? My drive and will to learn

What is your favorite part of it? Learning something new

Who do you feel is your biggest rivalry this upcoming season? Blackhawk

What has been your favorite memory been over the years? My first meet

What are your future plans after graduation? Join the Airforce

Do you plan to continue to play sports after high school? No, but with my job I hope to stay fit

Ryan Turner

Sport? Swimming

Grade? 12

How many years have you have been swimming? 10+ years

What do you feel is your biggest strength? My biggest strength would be my self determination and motivation

What is your favorite part of it? My favorite part is spending time with my teammates during practices and at meets

Who do you feel is your biggest rivalry this upcoming season? Right now, Blackhawk HS is our biggest rival this upcoming season

What has been your favorite memory been over the years? My favorite memory would be winning the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay at states my sophomore year

What are your future plans after graduation? I plan to attend college and pursue a degree in finance or other business related fields

Do you plan to continue to play sports after high school? I would like to continue swimming after high school.
