Mary Prestopine, 98

Mrs. Mary Prestopine, 98, formerly of Schill Manor in Ellwood City passed away on Thursday, November 30th, 2023 at Quality Life Services in New Castle.

Mrs. Prestopine was born in Ellwood City on July 6th, 1925 to the late Antonio and Jennie (DeLoia) Pietrcollo. During World War II she worked at the Babcock & Wilcox Steel Mill and later at Romar Textiles in Ellport for 25 years as a seamstress. She is a member of Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church and the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers. Since 1990 Mary volunteered at the Holy Redeemer School in the cafeteria where she was a member of the “Pizza Ladies”. She enjoyed baking and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary could make a 7 course meal out of a chicken bone.

Mary is survived by her daughter Lee Prestopine of New Castle, son and daughter-in-law Jerry and JoAnn Prestopine of New Castle, 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 5 great-step-grandchildren, sister Margaret Cancelli of Ellwood City, and sister-in-law Rose Pietrcollo of Ellwood City. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carmen Prestopine whom she married on May 22nd, 1947 and passed away on September 17th, 2008, sisters Pauline DeLoia, Edith Fletcher, Sue Manzo, Tina Russo, Helen Sainato, Caroline Joseph, and Della Cancelli, and brothers Daniel and Peter Pietrcollo.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 am at Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church with Father Joseph Freedy officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery, St. Peter’s Mausoleum. Members of the Holy Redeemer Christian Mothers are asked to meet at the church on Monday by 9:50 am to form an honor guard.
