Donald J. “Ducky” Costa, 86

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, Christian, athlete, educator, coach, mentor, and friend, Donald J. “Ducky” Costa, of Frankin Township,  passed peacefully to his eternal reward on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born February 17th, 1937, in Ellwood City, the son of the late Patsy and Clara (Statti) Costa. Donald was a longtime Principal and English teacher.  His passion was coaching football which he did at a number of High Schools and Colleges with a career spanning 60 years. He was especially proud of his quarterbacks who became like family members for a while.  He was a member of the Concord Global Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Pamela Costa; and three children, Christine Uremovich of Reading, Patrick Costa of Ellwood City, and David Costa of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren, Dylan, Brianna, Jackson, Rocco, Cameron, Taylor and Wyatt; and sisters, Jan (Jim) Hergenrother of Denver, CO, and Stephanie (Steve) Jaeger of Cleveland, Oh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Emma (Morabito) Costa, sister, Frances “Kena” Battaglia and son-in-law, George Uremovich.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1st, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, and December 2nd, from 12:00 until the time of funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., with Reverend Chris Kindle officiating.     To the entire Costa family, Cheryl and I send our deepest sympathies in your loss. He was a great coach and an even greater man! He was a remarkable mentor and friend! Thank you for allowing him to be part of our lives. He is with Jesus receiving his reward!
