Former Riverside golf standout and junior at Tiffin University, Justin Hand (pictured left), was among two athletes to been named CSC Academic All-District.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Men’s At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 21.
The 6’0″ righthanded golfer, who signed to play collegiately at Tiffin in 2019, majors in Accounting. Last fall he tied the Tiffin University record with a 6-under par 66 at the Doc Spragg Invitational. This year, across 11 tournaments and 28 rounds, Hand posted an average score of 75.21 and earned his best finish (13th) in the Great Midwest Championship in April.
He is the son of Bill and Michelle.
At Riverside High School, Justin was First Team All-State one year, First Team All-Conference all four years, a US Junior Am Qualifier, the school record holder with a -9 63, the WPIAL record holder with a -9 63, an ESMARK All-American, and a four-year captain of the golf team.
