Genevieve “Jaye” Scopellite, 96

We are sad to announce the passing of Genevieve “Jaye” Scopellite of Ellwood City, Pa on her 96 birthday, February 7, 2023 in Palm Springs, California after a brief illness. Genevieve was born on February 7, 1927 in Richwood, West Virginia. Genevieve is survived by her daughter Patti Greco of Palm Springs, California and her son, David Scopellite of Ellwood City. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tyler Greco and Allessandra Greco and her husband Emile Mosseri of Los Angeles, California, Gabrielle Greco of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Damian Greco of Las Vegas, Nevada, granddaughters Alicia Scopellite of Ellwood City, and LTC Kristen Plassmeyer serving in South Korea, Mara (Andy) Kelosky of Chippewa Twp., and Jamie Hartzel of Ellwood City. In addition, she leaves behind 4 great-grandchildren, PFC Dylan Griffith serving in Germany, Reese Barnes of Ellwood City, Bobbi Greco of Los Angeles, California, and Everett Kelosky of Chippewa Twp.. She was preceded in death by her parents Luigi and Josephine (DeMasse) Cucunato, and her husband of 72 years Dominick Scopellite, her sister Paula O’Toole, and brothers Joseph and Frank Cucunato. She was a member of Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church.

Jaye worked for the A&P for 19 years, as well as, for Edmin’s Fashions and Gene’s Jewelers, all in Ellwood City. She was a member of the Ellwood City Women’s municipal group. She was also a volunteer at the Ellwood City General Hospital. She had many hobbies but loved bowling and golfing, winning many titles. She was a great Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. She was loved by all and was surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of the Blessing Service at 10:30 am at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. with Deacon Joseph E. Ross officiating. Interment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Scopellite’s name may be made to; Beaver County Human Society.
