John L. Maielli, 88

Mr. John L. Maielli, 88, of Ellwood City passed away on Sunday, January 8th, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Maielli was born in New Castle on July 3rd, 1934 to the late Samuel and Caroline (DeThomas) Maielli. He had graduated from NECA High School in New Castle with the class of 1952. Following high school, John served with the United States Army. After his service with the army John worked for Snyder’s of Berlin as a salesman for 43 years. John then worked for the Ellwood City Area School District as a crossing guard. He is a member of the Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church and the Holy Redeemer Church choir and funeral choir. In his earlier years John enjoyed golfing at Del-Mar Golf Course, bowling , and playing softball in the Ellwood City Men’s Softball League. John also holds memberships with the Ellwood City Wolves Club, Special Activities Group, Holy Name Society, and Sons of Italy #608. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan. His greatest joy was time spent with his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife Arlene “Pinky” (Siesing) Maielli whom he married on November 10th, 1956, daughters Chris (Gary) MacDonald of Ellwood City and Karen (Chas) Kahrer of New Castle, son John (Lori) Maielli of Ellwood City, grandsons Jonathan (Lisa) Maielli, Matt Maielli, Chris Maielli, Tomas Maielli, David Kahrer, and Adam Kahrer, and great-grandson Conner Maielli.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at Divine Grace Parish, Holy Redeemer Church. Members of the Ellwood City Wolves Club, Holy Name Society, and Special Activities Group are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 7:20 pm to conduct a service at 7:30 pm. Members of the Veterans Honor Guard are asked to meet at the church on Thursday by 10:45 am to conduct full military honors.
