On Wednesday, December 28th, 2022, Docia Jacobs passed away at the age of 75. She was born on May 12th, 1947 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Jerome and Elnora “Peggy” (Woods) Jinar.
Docia was a passionate teacher, graduating from Lincoln High School before earning her degree in special education from Slippery Rock University. She spent many years teaching at New Horizon School, eventually becoming the Supervisor, before retiring in 2010. In addition to her work as a teacher, Docia also served as a Sunday school teacher at St. Elias Romanian Orthodox Church and was involved with Beaver County Special Olympics and the Saxon Ladies.
Docia is survived by her four children: Patrick Jacobs of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jamie Jacobs of Conover, North Carolina, Rachael (Craig) Jacobs of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, and Matthew (Christen) Jacobs of Cincinnati, Ohio. She is also survived by her brother Rory (Donna) Jinar, god daughter Ashley (Mark) Jakubowski, god sons Eric (Renee) Rough and Danny (Mallory) Rough, and brother-in-law Harry Rough. Docia was predeceased by her parents. husband Keith Jacobs, sister Denine Rough, niece Tamra Rough, and great-nephew Jonas Rough. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her grandchildren Steven Sherrod, PaTrisha Jacobs, Kyleigh and Elizabeth Edinger, Jude, Liliana and Joseph Jacobs, Chessie Dominguez, Bryan Raybuck, and Madison Jakubowski, as well as great-grandchildren Jacob Madison and Julia Sherrod.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023 from 4-7 pm with a Saracusta Service to be held at 6:30 pm at the Samuel Teolis Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 309 Spring Ave., Ellwood City, Pa 16117 and on Thursday, January 5th, 2023 from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 10:00 am at the St. Elias Romanian Orthodox Church, 425 Cherry Way, Ellwood City, Pa 16117, with Father Wayne Wright officiating. Interment will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Docia’s name may be made to the New Horizon School, 128 Friendship Circle, Beaver, Pa 15009.
