Butler Health System Hosting Monkeypox Vaccine Clinic

Butler Health System was recently allocated a limited amount of the Jynneos smallpox/monkeypox vaccine and will be hosting a clinic at Butler Memorial Hospital (One Hospital Way, Butler, PA) on Tuesday, August 30th.

These spots are limited and will be by appointment only, no walk-ins accepted.

The vaccine is a two-dose series, given 4 weeks apart and individuals must meet certain criteria as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to be eligible.

Monkeypox (MPX) is a viral infection most commonly spread by close skin-to-skin contact. As of August 22, 2022, there have been over 15,000 cases in the United States, and over 400 in Pennsylvania. The cardinal symptom of MPX is its rash, which often starts off as flat spots before developing into vesicles and pustules.
