Butler Memorial Hospital Wins HeartFlow CT Quality Award

Butler, PA – Butler Memorial Hospital’s radiology & diagnostic imaging department and cardiology team were recently awarded the HeartFlow CT Quality Award in the 4nd quarter of 2022. Recipients of the HeartFlow CT Quality Award are determined based on metrics assessing the quality and adoption of a medical center’s cardiovascular imaging program. Butler Health System Offering Additional Vaccine Clinics

In its continued battle against COVID-19, Butler Health System will be offering the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine. This protein subunit vaccine is authorized for people 12 years old and up. Its primary series is two doses, 4 weeks apart. Unlike other currently available COVID-19 vaccines, the Novavax shot contains no mRNA or viral particles, only a protein, making it similar to the annual influenza vaccine. The CDC currently recommends that people who get two doses of Novavax should later get a bivalent booster (from Pfizer or Moderna). Butler Health System Administering Updated Bivalent COVID-19 Boosters

Butler Health System (BHS) will be offering the updated bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine from Pfizer this week at two locations. This vaccine is authorized for people 12 years and older who have completed a primary vaccination series at least 8 weeks ago. People who have previously received a monovalent booster (the typical boosters up until now) should receive this updated bivalent booster if their last booster was 8 weeks ago or longer. Butler Health System Hosting Monkeypox Vaccine Clinic

Butler Health System was recently allocated a limited amount of the Jynneos smallpox/monkeypox vaccine and will be hosting a clinic at Butler Memorial Hospital (One Hospital Way, Butler, PA) on Tuesday, August 30th. These spots are limited and will be by appointment only, no walk-ins accepted. The vaccine is a two-dose series, given 4 weeks apart and individuals must meet certain criteria as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to be eligible. Butler Health System (BHS) is now accepting ALL individuals eligible under PA Department of Health Group 1A, without restriction of any kind. This means the vaccine is no longer limited to residents of Butler, Clarion and Forest Counties. For guidance on Group 1A eligibility visit www.butlerhealthsystem.org or www.health.pa.gov.
