2022 Historical Society Annual Fund Drive Underway

The Ellwood City Historical Society board meeting was held on June 6, 2022 unveiling the Annual Fund Drive.

The ways and means committee announced the dates for the starting of the fund drive.

The committee stated the fund drive would start June 15 and run to August 15, 2022.

The committee is composed of Everett Bleakney, Charles Brown, Robert Morabito, and Andrew Kindle chairman.

Everett Bleakney told the committee that the Society will be starting it’s 35th year of collecting and preserving the Ellwood City Area History. The board approved the goal for the fund drive this year and hope to receive $10,000.00. The committee discussed the cost of operation for the museum; utilities, repairs, need to modernize our cataloging system, and update the audio and visual systems.

The new replica of the Harmony Line Trolley was brought home to Ellwood City on May 24th. The Trolley spent three years under construction at the LCCTC. Now the work starts with providing care, security, insurance, shelter and maintenance.

Also, the Society has a new project under our wing called “Church History in Ellwood City”.

“We are working with the clergy, secretaries, and lay people to complete the task,” says Vice President, Andrew Kindle. “We have found 60 churches in our area with historical data of the churches founding, which we will have to prepare and the store for future generations.”

Every day is a new beginning and sometimes it seems to be over whelming.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “the only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.”

“Please consider making a tax deductible gift and join in the Annual Fund Drive,” adds Kindle.

The Historical Society receives no state or federal appropriations. Private contributions are vital to our growth and long term sustainability. Help the society to continue the work into our 35th year.

“Together, we are the caretakers of the artifacts, memorabilia, art, gifts, ideals and time-honored legacy of innovation, equity, and unity,” concludes Kindle. “Thank you for believing in and support the Ellwood City Historical Society.”
