POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF:
An incident as reported that unknown actors(s) attempted to pry open a secured mailbox from the Ellwood Wampum Rod & Gun Club. The incident was reported to have happened between May 1 and June 14, 2022. During the attempt they did not steal any contents from the mailbox however it was damaged, valued at $200.00. No video surveillance cameras were observed on the exterior of the building. As a result no viable suspects can be identified at this time according to the police report. The investigation is ongoing.

THEFT:
PA State Police investigated reports of theft from a motor vehicles that was reported to have taken place between the hours of June 13th at 10:00 a.m. and June 14th at 7:00 a.m. in the area of 4400-500 block on Ellwood Road, Wayne Township. According to the report, it was determined many vehicles were ransacked and items taken from inside these vehicles. Items stolen include but not limited to purses, wallets, money, lighters, necklaces, etc. Any information related to this incident shall be reported to the PA State Police New Castle Station, Reference PA22-763963. All vehicles involved in this reported incident were left unlocked. This investigation is ongoing.

DEATH ACCIDENTAL:
On June 15 at approximately 3:39 p.m. PA State Police were requested to conduct a death investigation on Kino Road, Washington Township, Lawrence County. According to the report, witnesses were interviewed on scene and related that a 55-year-old New Castle man drowned in a pond at the residence while swimming. Upon further investigation, it was determined that other witnesses were present prior to emergency response arrival. Witnesses never returned or left contact information. Any additional witnesses are asked to contact Tpr. Napolitano at 724-598-2211.



THEFT BY DECEPTION:
According to a report, a 49-year-old Slippery Rock female contacted an unemployment office to reopen her unemployment case, but upon calling the PA unemployment office, she was informed that someone had used her ID to gain funds from the state. The victim immediately called PA State Police to report the incident on June 16th.

ACCIDENT:
A one vehicle accident occurred on June 15th at approximately 11:11 p.m. on Wampum New Galilee Road, Lawrence County. According to the report, a Yamaha Vstar was traveling on the road and attempting to negotiate a uphill right curve and for unknown reasons lost conrol of their vehicle. The unit proceeded to slide into a nearby yard where it came to a final rest. The operator was attempted to be located with negative results.

ACCIDENT:
A one vehicle accident occured on June 16th at approximately 6:54 p.m. on Ellwood Road, Wayne Township resulting in suspected minor injuries. According to the report, a Chevy CK1500 was driving north on Ellwood Road when the operator, Joshua Hall, 33, of Ellwood City was distracted by conversation with the front seat passenger. The unit drove off the right side of the roadway and crashed into a low concrete wall. The front seat passenger was not wearing a seat belt and suffered an injury. Hall also suffered a suspected minor injury as a result of the crash. The vehicle was disabled as a result of the crash.

ILLEGALLY STORING DRUGS & GUNS:
Deia Eggleston, 46, of Bleakley Ave., New Castle has been sentenced in federal court to 46 months imprisonment with a three-year term of supervised release on her conviction of violating federal drug trafficking laws, United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung announced this week. According to information presented to the court, Eggleston allowed her relatives, who were engaging in drug trafficking to use her home to manufacture crack cocaine and to store drugs and guns. Eggleston also aided and abetted an attempted delivery of a kilogram of cocaine by mail which federal agents intercepted prior to delivery. During a search warrant of her home, numerous types of drugs and firearms were found. This prosecution is a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten communities throughout the United States.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:
The New Castle City Police Department has filed criminal charges against a 16-year-old juvenile in reference to an assault on another 16-year-old juvenile which took place outside of Gaston Park near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Addis Street on June 3, 2022. The victim in this case sustained serious head and foot fractures and injuries as a result of the assault. Charges of Aggravated Assault, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Simple Assault and Harassment are being filed through a Written Allegation against the 16-year-old juvenile.
