The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remains undefeated after its victory at Southside Beaver on Tuesday.
The boys defeated opponents Shenango (21-26), Southside Beaver (15-50), and Beaver Falls (15-50). Top runners for the Wolverines were Anthony Spadafore (2nd place, 19:31), Joel Brooks (4th place, 19:46), Colton Crizer (5th place, 20:04), Nick Wise (6th place, 20:19), and Ian Stoneking (8th place, 21:22).
“All the boys ran a great race,” said head coach Mark Hall.
Next up to finish out the regular season is a meet at Riverside next Tuesday against Mohawk and Riverside.
The Ellwood City Girls Tennis team defeated Riverside 3-2 on Tuesday.
The Wolverines girls swept the singles matches while the Panthers swept the two doubles matches.
Maddy McCommons (6-1, 6-2) defeated Kierstn Whipple, Rylea Heitzenrater (5-7, 6-2, 6-4) defeated Meredith Cote, and Lauren Stich (6-7, 6-4, 6-1) defeated Lauren Bush to collect singles victories for Ellwood City. For Riverside, Emily Fox & Shannon Tritt (6-4, 6-0) defeated Olivia Andrews & Tess Kohnen and Marlin Ondek & Skylar Minnitte (7-5, 6-3) defeated Kailyn Hamilton & Tess Folino.
Ellwood City is now 2-7 (2-4 section) on the regular season.
OF NOTE: Riverside Boys Soccer team collected a 2-0 win over South Side Rams in WPIAL Class 1A Section play on Monday. The Panther boys now sit at 3-3 in conference play and 4-5 overall and will next travel to OLSH on Wednesday afternoon. The Riverside Girls Soccer team collected a victory Tuesday over the Mohawk Warriors by a score of 2-1. Goals by Megan Zelch and Tess Hardin led the Lady Panthers.
